HOw many tracks do you think you can do on a computer before the soundcard punches you in the nose? Does it depend on the soundcard? I use cakewalk..and with all the takes, separte guitar bits etc..some songs have up to 40 tracks. Do you think this is just overkill or can the card handle it?

Thanks for your suggestions guys..glad to know i'm not doing something silly! Its usually songs with lots of picking that i get fustrated having to record it twice. I also do the double or triple up on voice too..sounds much better for some reason.

Just found the B1 at this site http://www.micguys.com/studio_project_mics/spmics_b1.htm its listed for $79. Anyone know if they are a good dealer or not. ALso i see they have a discount ticket..anyone know how to get it?

Im in Australia and im shopping for a Sound Projects B1 and a M-Audio Audiophile 2496. Does anyone of the cheapest places to get them? I think importing might work out better but i dont know a whole lot of sites. If anyone knows where to get some good deals i'd appreciate it!

I've got any audigy and its great for gaming but i think that even the Audigy 2 still wont be as good as the audiophile for recording. The D/A converters will be nowhere near as good quality, also i think the Audigy2 still doesnt record in 24/96..could be wrong but i'd check. I know it plays back.

AH ok, well could you run the 2 outs back into the mixer and then plug headphones into the mixer to monitor everything?...i dont have speakers to monitor yet. I dont have any purpose for the spdif, but the midi will come in handy. I currently have an Audigy so mayb i'll leave that in.

Im also looking at one of these cards to buy. What i'd like to know though, is how does the Audiophile go with Athlon xp's on a Via chipset? I know some cards hate them. Also, coming from a gamers card owner, i notice it just has 4 rca sockets, are they just 2 in 2 out. Is there no headphone jack?

Ahh!! i found the problem! My line-in jack on the soundcard is stuffed!..or maybe there is a problem with the card? But anyway, i just took my mixer and mic to a friends computer, set all gains to 0 and trim to half, pluged in my 2 outputs from the mixer to his line-in and put my headphones in...

HahHA! I have done some damage to my Audigy!...i just set up my mixer and mic on my friends computer. I put the mains from the mixer to his Line-in and put my headphones in the soundcard and it was fine!...everything sounded as clear and loud as it does when i have the headphones in the mixer...

Ok, im using a Soundblaster Audigy(yes crap) and just got a mixer. So i got 2 phono jacks going from the main mix outputs to the line-in on the soundcard..the plug is a stereo 3.5mm. I turned up the windows volume on the line-in. Now i set the channel gain to 0 and the main mix to 0 and adjusted...

Sweet, thanks heaps for that. The shock mount might be a good option actually!...my mic at the moment picks up vibration from my computer...a nice humm..and fan noise! I'll have to do some moving i think :) Does the B1 need phantom power too? Im guessing all condensers do?..i've never played...
