I like GC's "restocking fee". After they've made an insane amount of profit "restocking" the same item over and over, they'll blow it out at cost or below, just to get rid of it. That's when I like to show up.

Watch the coating on those 99 cent hangers(also ten dollar guitar stands). They'll chemically interact with the finish on lots of guitars. I learned the hard way on a couple of nice guitars. I didn't get rid of the hangars and stands, though. I just removed the plastic/rubber coating and wrapped...

You'll also have to choose between round neck and square neck. Round necks can be played like a guitar as well as with a slide. Square necks can only be played with a slide. Wood resonators will have a warmer tone. If you're buying one of the less expensive new ones(Fender, Johnson, Regal, etc)...

Bullet ends look exactly like tiny .22 cal. bullets. About the size of a couple of grains of rice. The center is drilled out and the end of the sting is soldered inside rather than tied around like on a ball end. The "bullets" load into the slot like a bullet into a gun chamber.

What are the disadvantages of stringing a Fender Strat with ball end strings rather than Bullets? I'm sure it affects the tone but is it harmful to the guitar?

They offer a nice selection of Gibson guitars, too, at a couple hundred less than MF, etc.
