So I went to GC a few days ago, and tried out pretty much all the keyboards, from the cheapie $99 dollar ones up to one of those $8,000 Oasys keyboards.
Suprisingly, out of all the keyboards, the absolute best action I found was in the Casio Privia series! I didn't know Casio made decent...
I'm selling my M-Audio Prokeys 88 digital keyboard. Besides missing the rubber cap that goes on one of the faders (fader still works flawlessly of course)and one of the LED's being a little dimmer than the rest and a few minor scuffs, this thing is in great condition. Just look at it. Works...
Garritan, the creator of the well-respected Personal Orchestra VST (amongst others) has announced that it will be releasing a Piano VST next winter, authorized by and working very closely with Steinway!
"NAMM Convention, Anaheim, CA — Steinway & Sons, maker of the world's finest pianos, and...
I'm trying to look into buying a midi controller with great hammer action. I currently have a prokeys 88 but have realized I don't like the action much at all.
I am NOT looking for a fancy keyboard in terms of features or onboard sounds. I want an 88 key midi controller with great action...
if you're not interested in serious recordings, get the Zoom H2. It would be cheaper, and more portable and convenient. If you got the mic/preamp combo, you would also need a computer that can record, a soundcard, software and cables.
Mikeh-thanks for the input, can you name a specific vox modeler?
Danny-that does sound pretty good, thanks for the link. By the way...what acoustic are you using? Sounds great.....
Zed-I've just tried the Juicy77 and it is pretty good, the reason you can't find it in REAPER is because it's...
At the risk of offending all the high-class tube amp vets around here,
I'd like to ask a question or two about amp modeling. I play guitar, but mostly acoustic. I want to get into implementing more electric guitar into my songs though. I've got a solid state marshall I bought at a pawn shop...
I agree completely, especially after buying the 414. I sold it and got most of my money back; I lost like 65 bucks or something. It was worth the money though, now I'll make sure and compare gear to my current setup before commiting to buy, even if the piece of gear costs 10x as much
How does...
I think sometimes a pricetag or reputation of a mic influences one's opinion or perception of how good/bad the mic sounds.
For example, when I got the 414 in the mail, I was very excited to try it out, it is afterall a legendary thousand-dollar commercial-studio classic. I just KNEW it was...
So many differing opinions, I love it!
Goes to show how subjective the world of recording is doesn't it?
I've decided to post the results NOW.
RESULTS:
Vocals 1: AKG 414
Guitar 1: AKG 414
Vocals 2: MXL v67g
Guitar 2: MSL v67g
I personally think that the AKG sounds SLIGHTLY better on...
Yeah I thought it may be bad business form to post it while I was trying to sell it, just in case:cool: I actually sold it on ebay anyways.
Hm. That might be a very valid point. It doesn't apply to me personally though since besides vocals and acoustic guitar I don't mic anything.
Go down to post #17 for results
I just bought an AKG 414 and it arrived on my doorstep a few days ago.
I compared it to the only other LDC I had, the MXL v67g.
MXL v67g...........$99 new
AKG 414 XLS.....$949 new
I thought it would be fun to post a blind test comparing/contrasting the two. I...
Right now my monitoring setup includes a pair of headphones, and this crappy 15 year-old (literally about 15 years old) amp I ripped out of an old pair of very low-quality computer speakers that I wired up to a 1/4" and a 9v battery. Everything sounds like diarrhea through it to say the least...
Haha I wish, but I'm sure they won't. It's part of this show called "Bizkidz" I think, it's about teenage entrepreneurs(sp?) or something. I'm not going to even be in the country when it airs (in like a year, so I've been told....) so hopefully someone will tape it for me. Either way it was a...
