How do you record the drums if....

Lets hope not! A mixer is really the way to go. You could try Mid/Side Mikeing with a small mixer with Phantom power. http://zolfco.webhostingwholesale.com/xlr.htm If the Mbox is your computer Interface, then that is the right way.

Please listen to my first recording and tell me the brutal truth!

Thats the name of that tune!! If you want to upload your songs to the Internet then you would convert to Mp3,Wma etc. They were created for that very reason. They are compressed down to a smaller size for streaming. Whenever you compress a wave file you start to lose the quality of the sound.

a bunch of questions in one for a musician...

Thats fine as long as the HD doesnt permanently go bad. With a second hard drive just for data, it cant crash because of an OS. (other than the HD wearing out.) For really long term storage you should save to a Data Cd or some other form of Data back up.

a bunch of questions in one for a musician...

The 1.8 would work. Ram should be at least 512. No. Just keep them both on their own Irqs and not shared with anything else. If you want Quakity then your Pre-amps are the main concern. I like my Mackie 1604. You may even want to think about just getting a Pre-amp unless you really need the...

    uploading from vs-840 to internet?

None of this stuff is that simple. Even after you learn the Machine you have to learn how to mix properly. That can take years to learn. It takes time and knowledge to become a master at it. Id rather be playing myself and let a real Engineer record and Mix it. But even a 2480 is cheaper than...

    VS-1880 GIGANTIC file

Yes. But not for streaming from the Internet. A wave file is too large (At this time anyway) for streaming over the Internet. Thats why they came up with Mp3s. Wma, etc: The Wave files are compressed down to speed up streaming.

    uploading from vs-840 to internet?

Any program that converts wave files into Mp3 or other compressed format that the site is using. Musicmatch is just one. You convert the file first then upload it.

MP3 vs Wave, etc.: For CD's, and for Internet, what is the best format for quality?

Im not Slackmaster but he or anyone else can correct me if Im wrong! 1) The standard CD (You must have a World standard) Is 16 bit 44.1khz. http://web.singnet.com.sg/~lion4/articles/notes/redbook.html 2)Mp3's are just another form of data. Yes you can save them. You just need an Mp3...

    Any worries with refurbished motherboard?

Ive had the opposite experience too. Ive always had intel Cpu's and most of them with Intel chipsets and no major problems. I Inherited an Amd computer about a Month ago. Constant hang ups. I tore it apart for parts. Got an almost brand new 20 gig drive and Cd-rom out of the deal anyway. Im...

    Basic MIDI Connection Question...

This is how I see your Diagram for the Korg to be master. The out of the korg to the in of the PC. The out of the PC to the in of the Keyboard The out of the keyboard to the in of the Korg. All your devices must be able to use MTC in order to work.

    Your Opinion is needed

Thats Subjective but its problably better than the line in on a SB card. 16 bit 44.1 is standard Cd quality. I would check your USB Specs on your Motherboard first and the Unit. Usb-2 is better than Usb-1.

I'm going insane: All sorts of problems with Aardvark/Cakewalk

It will be after the bugs are out. I just wanted to say dont forget the "Restore" on Win xp. It may help. Also do not have Your soundcard on a shared slot. Check MB Specs. Has anyone here used an ALI based motherboard successfully in a DAW capacity? Untill Amd and the rest have a longer and...
