    Please help - USB-midi problem

Does your RS-70 come up as a MIDI input in any software (sequencer, soft synth, etc?) My Audio and Sound Devices doesn't have anywhere to designated a midi input, just a 'default MIDI music playback', which you certainly don't want a USB controller keyboard to play Cause in reality, unless you...

    Cubase SE and VST Instruments

I think he means "do i have to use a midi file to play the included VSTs?" No, you don't have to use someone else's midi file, but it might be helpful to load a drumgroove to test out the capabilities of the drum machine, since you're not familiar with programming yet.

How to make a voice robotic/vocode style ?

Both Cher and Roger Troutman's effect is done with a Talk-Box (Heil for Troutman, and a digitech Talker for Cher) and a synth. The Cher effect can be approximated with Auto-tune, to some extent. Cool Edit has a vocoder, but unless you're an expert, it wont yield the results you want. Search...

    Help me setup my mixer?

When writing songs, etc (i.e. not recording) try hooking up your computers main outs to a stereo channel (looks like RCA is all you have left) then take your speakers from the control room outs. That way, everything making noise will go through your speakers, all affected by the same faders...

    Breaks for Old Skool

True, sixteenths are useful. Most breaks are swung a bit, which I think is what Bdrum was referring to by "syncopate them" What are you using to program your beats?

    Instrument Plug in ? Orchestra

You're probably looking for orchestral hit samples rather than a plug-in. I think FL actually comes with many- I believe there in the "hits" folder. Search online for orchestral hits or stabs. I'm sure you'll find many for free.

    syncing synths

If you're using a sequencer to trigger all your modules, they will follow the host tempo (you'll need to set up the arpeggiator to follow this tempo)

    Recordin background...

You'll have to set up CEP to record what's being played through the windows mixer, or through your soundcard's mixer.

    NI Kompakt- Controller Messages?

Good day. I'm considering picking up Native Instruments' Kompakt sampler around the holidays, but while checking out the spec sheet, it says 'No' to 'Assignable external CCs (continuous controllers such as MIDI controllers, velocity, pitchbend…) per Group'. Does this mean I couldn't automate or...

    Audio from Video ---(DVD?)

Just grab the audio outs from the DVD player (usuallly RCA plugs, or digital if your soundcard will handle it) and get the audio to your soundcard (via a mixer, pre-amp, or adapters) and hit record. If you have a DVD player in your computer, I'm sure you can rip the audio directly from the...
