Need some serious help with firewire drive...

Glad you got your issue solved, as I didn't see your thread until you had fixed it. I have a question about firewire stuff though, is it fast enough to record to directly or do you just use it for archeiving? I am just curious. I would like a portable hot swap solution and it seems like...

    Adk

The mics sound good. I have one of them and love them. The studio projects mics everyone raves about are also made in china, so I think that argument is bunk. I like the adks a ton and they sound great. They are not available very widely and right now many of their mics are on back order...

video card for dual RGB monitors

I need a card that will be strictly for my daw. I have two RGB monitors that I want to use it on. Most dual cards look like they have one RGB and the other is digital or something that only an LCD monitor can take. If the adapters are cheap, or come with the cards that is fine. What card is...

    Motu Forums?

unfortunatly there really isn't. THe computers and soundcards forum occassionally has some MOTU hardware information, but not often. I am a member of the MOTUPC group on yahoo, that is about the only group I know of for MOTU. --MIKE

Lock files and then saving them in 2.0

I have a bunch of FX on a bunch of tracks and I have them locked in so that I can free up CPU when doing playback. That all works just great, but my problem is when I open up CEP it takes about 10 minutes for it to apply all the locked FX. Is there a way to save the wavs with the FX locked...

    Check out the new Digi-002...

BSOD There is a BSOD for XP. It is rarly seen but I can make it come up like clockwork. If you telnet into a unix/linux box and paste more than 30 lines into vi it will overrun the buffer. At least it has on two systems with XP that i have played with. If that doesn't make sense, then um...

    Studio projects C1..or anything else?

I like the ADK stuff, which is in competition with Studio Projects. You can check out 8thstreet on adk mics. They are great. MIKE

    Telephone voice effect

CEP does that quite nicely. Try using the filters option, somewhere in there a preset is 'Get off the phone' that would be the one you are looking for. MIKE

    CEP Crashing all the time

Hey, I have been using Nuendo for a while now and just started using CEP2.0 to mix some of my stuff from a few years ago when I used CEP all the time. CEP 2.0 crashes all the stinkin time. I like that I can use real time effects, but then the program crashes when I get 8 tracks or more going...

    soundcraft pres... what's the difference?

    berhinger or ns10's

I would probably go NS10s the B Truths get a bad rap by almost everyone. You might consider Tannoys or Yorkvilles also. This board pretty much hates the truths, at least I am pretty sure of that. Do a search on that. NS10s are getting harder to find though, since they don't make them...

    AMD Mobos

I appreciate the help everyone is trying to give. In addition to the amd/mobo question, will most mobos fit in a 4U case? --MIKE

    2408MKII -vs- Hammerfall card 96/52

I haven't used the hammerfall, but I love the 2408. I like it because 1) if I ever switch to mac, I can with no problems. 2) 8 Analog inputs that sound good 3) explandable system (by Christmas I will probably have 48 inputs just from buying another rack unit and using the same pci card) 4)...

    AMD Mobos

I did read that post, and that of course brought up concern. I am also pretty sure there are many people out on this board using AMD products with pro soundcards and having no problems at all. I know for a long time, IWILLKK266 was the way to go, but now that the board is 1.5 years old, what...

    AMD Mobos

Hey, I am looking at getting a new DAW computer and want to go AMD. I was wondering what mobos are recomended these days, I know a while ago VIA was no good. I use a MOTU 2408 and the motu site still says no via, but the last update was april2001. I searched a while on this board and didn't...

    Price range for monitors

I've got a pair of monitor ones that I used for years with a similar setup. They arent;' the best out there, but for the money, and sicne you already have an amp, they'd be a good step. I can sell you mine too:D Seriously, I will. But if not, check in the 300$ range or less, maybe Event...

    Tannoy Reveals (Active)

What is the general opinion on these? I know tannoy stuff in general is pretty good, but should i hold out for something more expesive. I don't want to spend 3K but I could spend 1000 or so, if I had to. I like the price on these, though I haven't heard them in a while, I remember liking...

new Mackie Controller for all our software

http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2002/Mackie-Control-Surface.html Anyone got anything else on this one? I like this because I don't have to buy the houston for Nuendo, or Logic Control for logic, I can just get one. Motormix just didn't seem that cool. --MIKE
