    Using Guitar Amps for Keys:

Isn't the spider one of those digital amp modelling systems?, in which case it probably has a decent speaker sim and a DI out. You may find it easier in some scenarios to use this to record your guitar tones, as opposed to micing up either... Ben.

    Hip Hop Track--need advice

Well I'm not really a hip-hop fan; track is a good idea and it will be better once a main vocal part has been laid down, besides the pitched vocal. It sounds really cool to me, but then I'm not really in to producing this type of music, so I probably don't know any better... I can definitely...

    Our first original demo

Ok, I'm quite a Hendrix fan so listened to Wind Cries Mary...Awesome job, but perhaps too much reverb on the lead vocal, I think it would sound even better if you cut it down a bit...Reverb on other parts fits cool - perhaps you were going for that spacey vocal sound though, but I think it is a...

    on the fly tune

Thats some awesomly sweet phrasing on the guitar parts there (ain't nothing but a thang)...Although right at end of this track, guitar parts slightly clip? EDIT: Ok, just read bit about distortion Rust: Lovely chorusy guitars - 12 strings?, love the perscussion too, overall sweet... Very...

    Slayerment - Placidity

The piano is a bit thin and electronic sounding. It would probably help if you added some stereo reverb to widen it out a little. Other than that, its a really good sounding composition :-) Ben.

    Songs for Mastering Project.

Just listening to blue sky Its lovely, but get rid of the lead guitar line. It is too weak, and the song doesn't really require it. Fantastic other than that EDIT: In fact please get rid of the lead guitar, its awful, no offence or anything Sanity: Like the choppy rythm playing on the acoustic...

Anyone do some drums for me? (Rock)

Track minus drums posting Hi all, cheers for the feedback. For anyone who wants to have a go at doing the drums to this track (preferably live, real drums by a real player), a wav of the mix minus the drums with a count-in at the beginning can be found at...

    New song (first song here)

Hi mate, I guess you're going for the instrumental aspect - perhaps it might work on a film, but really this song would sound cool with vocals, listening to it, I can almost hear a vocal melody in my head. As it stands the guitar lead line needs tightening up, the timing in some of the licks...

New track (light rock), commercial? :-)

Hey cheers for the comment dude. I have since done a newer mix. Get it at: http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~bhj/mp3s/inside_tinnyMix.mp3 Perhaps I got a little carried away with the hi-end eq though? Vocals also seem a bit loud now. Cheers Ed Ben.

    please comment my songs

I just listened to Illusion In terms of stereo width, the mix is incredibly thin. Try widening it up: try doubling up the guitars, I'm a big fan of doing this. Compress the bass guitar, since the volume throughout is a bit erratic; compressing it should help even it out. Timing is also off a...

"White trash Whore" By Balin' Twine

Hi. The vocals need greater clarity. Sounds like you double tracked the vox and added some room reverb with a marginal amount of pre-delay. This makes them sound a bit metallic. Try reducing reverb. Also boost upper mid eg to try and get some clarity. Secondly, the drum sounds which you are...

    From The Dogz

Alien Love Secrets and BAD Horsie, thats what struck me about the chugging, awesome chugging sounds dude. The wanking version is pretty cool too, although perhaps a little too much, but I'm sure you new that ;-). Very metallica-esque sound. Nice work mate! Ben.

    Goodbye Tonight

I feel that the vocal sound could have better clarity. Try a hi-pass filter that gets rid of anything below 200Hz or so. Also boost its upper mid frequencies. Also, its only a tiny little thing, but did you use a pop-filter? There are a couple of places very early on where some `plosive' sounds...
