New track. I can't decide if its crap or not.

I'm playing around with this little instrumental idea. I wasn't going for any particular sound although it seems to have evolved towards a world-music type of feel. I'm not overly sure about the arrangement or production. I was thinking perhaps it is overly busy? All comments are appreciated :-)...

I like them! I like them, but I don't think I'd call it glam rock...sounds too good to be glam rock (when I think of glam rock, I think of David Lee Roth type stuff and Kiss - Big Hair and makeup etc)...Come and play - this sounds more close to The Arctic Monkeys... Its all well produced imo...

    Waffleness - Green

Kick lacks presence I liked it, but imo, the kick lacked a little presence...seemed kind of dull sounding and not as punchy as it perhaps should be. The effect was prevalent as soon as the crunch guitar kicked in. Likewise the snare lost some high end sparkle when crunch came in. Secondly...

I like it I thought it was cool - I haven't slept all night (now 520) so was hoping this would help...I reckon nothing can however...think I am going to get up in a few mins and have a coffee Stick with it though...I am very much liking the chimes at the beginning...(Listening through...

hahah Loving the turd polisher plugin - where can I get a copy of that? Is it expensive? lol Indeed I think I probably do...On a track I sang on years ago, someone here said I should down some whiskey and redo them hahah...perhaps I should have listened to his advice! Ben.

Ok.... So you prefer the first double tracked version rather than the second single tracked version? Ben.

how about this version? So I've isolated the vocal line and brought it up a little. Still, feels a little loud to me and generally a bit shit sounding still ;-) http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~bhj/mp3s/roughMix3.mp3 Ben

OK, does this mix sound better now?

loved it... Often I'll hear a guitar instrumental and stop playing it after around 30 seconds because the playing is so shit. On yours however, the playing is beautiful and I wanted to listen to the whole thing. It is very satriani like but I guess you knew that already ;-) Ben.

Thanks! Thanks man, that's encouraging and will def try out your suggestion later today. It was double tracked...and yes, badly! If I could want one thing for christmas, it would be to sing better lol Also, I ran the vocal lines pretty heavily through an autotune plugin. Ben.

Hi all, I have a track I've been working on, but the vocals sounds really shit. Basically my recording chain is as follows (and I'm a student so can't afford so much). Guitar / vocal mic into roland vs840 (I use this as a preamp). Headphone output of vs840 into soundcard on mac Record in...

Hey man, thanks for the feedback - is much appreciated. I'll try and sort out the snare panning this weekend if I get a minute. Cheers, Ben.

new hard rock melodic song "The Travel song"

I did an A/B comparison through my (arguably dodgy) headphones and actually preferred the first mix. Sounded more organic and airy. The seond mix sounds a little narrow, in terms of the stereo image - doesn't seem as nice and wide as the first, although the vocals are a better level in the...

Leave me Alone, tracked mostly in Ardour, mixed in garageband

Hi everyone, its been a while since I posted anything, but have been busy recording; was wondering if people could give me some feedback about the following track: newRoughB.mp3 I wasn't going for a particular style other than rock. My main influences in this one are Disturbed, Alterbridge...

ROCK (Pre vocals) - Are the drums ok?

Hey everyone, Was wondering if you'd all give this (pre-vocal) track a listen. Unfortunately, I had to program the drums, because I don't have access to a huge studio/live in a very noisy neighbourhood. So basically, rip this track apart...cringe at the drum samples, fret at the horrible guitar...
