    Tascam Mastering Recorder?

Hey yall, I'm looking into a Tascam Mastering Recorder to join my MS-16 Tape Machine and M-520 Mixing Console. The main choices are the Tascam 32 and the 42B. I am also interested in the ATR-60 2-Track, 52, BR-20, and the Otari MX-5050, but the M-520 doesn't have Balanced Line/Tape Inputs which...

    Rack Essentials

Hey everybody, I have started looking into getting all of my Rack gear for my analog home recording studio and I have confronted with what to get. This was what I was thinking: Basic tools necessary to get a descent finished product. I am also kind of on a budget. I'm looking for vintage vibe...

    tascam MS-16?

That's awesome. Your son is into recording with vintage equipment? How does the M-3500 sound? They look really cool. I wish the M-520's Tape Returns had the mini-faders and in-line monitoring.

    tascam MS-16?

Well, it really depends. It' up to you, if you don't hear any difference, you can keep recording if you want to... It might start building up a lot of noise and loose high freq's I don't know how many times exactly, but I would guess in the 25-30 pass range. You will get a descent amount of use...

    tascam MS-16?

I use the Tascam M-520(20x8x16) which is a companion mixing console to the MS-16 and it works great. You can find them relatively inexpensively, around $500 I guess. I really like the sound, routing, flexibility, and the ease of use to accommodate my work style. Anyways, mine is really old...

    tascam MS-16?

I re-use the newer Ampex 456 quite a bit. I've often thought about purchasing a table-top bulk tape eraser and then buying used tape and recording on those to cut costs. RMGI SM911 1" Tape is about $150 per reel!

    tascam MS-16?

The MS-16 doesn't use Belts like the consumer grade decks. Depending on the circumstance, the Pinch Rollers can get pretty sticky or hard. They can be repaired, of course.

    tascam MS-16?

I own 2 MS-16's(1 of them is for parts), they sound incredible. A giant step up from the Fostex stuff. To me, the MS-16 is a very professional piece of equipment. If I don't use the DBX, it still sounds great. Plus, you can turn DBX on and off for certain instruments. I calibrate my MS-16's to...

    Stereo Power Amp choices?

Thanks! Looks great. I use old analog equipment and this would fit perfectly in my (future) rack. I just checked them out on ebay and they aren't too expensive and look like they're built like tanks

    Stereo Power Amp choices?

I posted this in the Analog section but then I realized I probably should have put it here... Hey everybody, I'm in the market for a stereo power amp and I am having a little trouble finding an amp that is good/descent quality and also affordable, in the $100-ish price range. Could somebody shed...

    Stereo Power Amp choices?

The J2045's don't say the wattage and the room I am powering is very small. Hopefully I will be going into a bigger place soon

Hey everybody, I'm in the market for a stereo power amp and I am having a little trouble finding an amp that is good/descent quality and also affordable, in the $100-ish price range. Could somebody shed some light on a few possible choices? I will be powering a pair of JBL J2045 8ohm monitors. I...

    New Tascam MS-16!

Hey everybody. I haven't been around lately because I've been working all the time. Anyways, I just picked up a new MS-16 with TONS of 456 and some cool accessories. It has the overbridge Meter mount and the ATR-60 style cart. I'll post pics soon. She's really beautiful. My other one had too...

Tascam MS-16: Noise Reduction and Balanced Inputs

The DBX NR Units are connected via Hirose Multipin connectors, not RCA. The MS-16 needs to have either the DBX connected or a termination plug. If not connected, Channels 9-16(in your case) will not have any sound. The DBX works with either RCA or XLR connectors. The MS-16's DBX Units don't have...

    My MS16 is gone.

I'd definitely like to hear some your material. Do you have some stuff that was recorded on your old MS-16? That's good that you held onto your old Tapes.
