He may barre but it sounds like he just strums the 3 low strings. By the way Johnny Ramone is the person who inspired me to pick up guitar in the first place.
Yeah I'm not complaining about the chord chatter but I'm still convinced that Johnny stuck to power chords, do you have any examples of songs where you can hear the major or minor third?
I'm sorry man but the Ramones almost exclusively used power chords, I can think of just a few songs that don't rely on them. Other early punk bands like the clash and sex pistols also relied heavily on power chords.
Some people define punk as shit guitar tone offbeat drummers and a recording that sounds like it was made with a phone. To me punk is about stripped down rock and roll. Distorted power chords a driving drum beat and a nice driving bass.
Hey Guys, we were discussing this track on a bass recording thread. I wanted to post the finished product here, feedback is always appreciated.

I'm not making a conscience effort to make the guitars louder though. I think since I'm a guitar player a have a natural tendency to pay more attention to the guitar, therefore I make it louder, its all on a subconscious level though.
lol I'll take that as a compliment, I've been playing guitar for 6 years but I've only been recording and mixing about 6 months. Its good feedback though, us guitar players don't notice when we are overpowering everyone else.
Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
I find I am always my biggest...
Maybe I'm being to harsh on myself. Heres a demo of the song I was using the bass in. Who knows maybe its not the bass. Any feedback is appreciated.

Haven't been able to get my hands on a better bass yet, I uploaded a track of just bass and drums, I'm not happy with the bass tone, the performance isn't perfect but the tone is the main thing that bothers me.
Heres the demo

The bass I'm using...
Rainbow in the Dark is the better of the two tracks in my opinion.
And I am a HUGE Dream Theater fan, forsaken just seems like it would be hard to convert to this style.
Rainbow in the dark was simple and straightforward but good.
