dont't know what the F i am doin

What's your budget? The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is good for the price. The RME Babyface is arguably better (though you might not even notice, it is subtle) but costs more. How many microphones do you plan on using at once as time goes by?

New Home Studio - Looking to deaden the room for mixing/monitoring (diagram included)

I'm sorry to say this, but those Auralex "bass traps" aren't really bass traps at all. Foam simply cannot trap bass substantially no matter how wide it is. That's what I heard here, and I can bet you a hundred bucks it's true. Look up GIK Acoustics. Those are the kind of traps you want, and you...

    Transferring projects to another computer

I would like to transfer some of the projects I've started on the laptop to my recently aquired DAW computer. I suppose I need to transfer the peak-files, the wavs and the project files from the "Reaper Media" folder, but how do I know which files goes with which project? There are about 2800...

New Home Studio - Looking to deaden the room for mixing/monitoring (diagram included)

The desk needs to be placed along the shortest wall. Hand clapping tests only reveal high frequency reflections. Also, according to the experienced and knowledgeable (I'm not one of them!) people here, your Auralex foam will not much good to your room unless you have properly treated it (bass...

Are you using that Boss multitrack thing as a control surface? If so, how is that working out for you?

    Facebook

Amazing, that is almost precisely the melody I heard in my head for the background vocals. I also think the mix is better on the second one. Good work!

    11x9 with 8'6 ceiling control/mixing room advice.

This might be what you had in mind from the start, but..... From what I've heard, for much better isolation, you should make sure the room within the room is floating. I'm not sure how people do this, but look it up.

Ultrasound, you might want to find a way to raise those monitors. And make some room for your feet? :)

    Facebook

I like it! :D This really catches the spirit (or lack of spirit) of Facebook. Great tune, reminds me almost a little of the antifolk scene (Moldy Peaches, Jeffrey Lewis etc) in New York, but still unique. I might suggest some background vocals during the "Share it 'round" parts. I hear some...

    Midi vs drum software

I'm doing my best to collect all the shit I need (I really do) before getting married so I can say "Oh, that! That's practically worth nothing and I prefer to have the living room inside this little closet right here."

Thanks el duderinos. The ceiling is not painted and I'm not sure as to how I'd find the beams.

    Mixing With Headphones

Monitors. You can mix at low levels. Some even prefer that to mixing at louder levels.

    Installing a cloud non-destructively

I'm renting this place and probably won't stay here for years, so I need to install a 242 panel I've got from GIK in the ceiling without using screws. Any ideas? I've tried double layered tape, but it doesn't stick well to the panels.
