Hey Dave, thanks a lot.
I tried pulling out the 12at7 and yes, the reverb is gone. The "hiss" (kind of) is still there and the more I turn up the reverb, the more it hisses, just like you thought.
It does "KLANG" when I kick the cab, even without the 12at7 in it.
The amp isn't really that...
I'm just going to cut straight to the chase.
The amp is a Heritage Victory. They are no longer made and the documentation is scarce to say the least. A manual exists but it contains no technical information at all.
The more I turn up the reverb on my amp, the more it hisses (well, it's not a...
You're looking for another DAW because you can't reach the Reaper folks?
Reaper is ridiculously cheap, and I doubt you'll find a different DAW for the price that is even remotely as packed with features and has such good workflow.
Prove me wrong though :)
I've got two powerstrips w/ switches attached to a rack. One for guitar stuff (pedal board, amps) and one for studio stuff (monitors, interface, computer, HD etc). I usually turn the interface, external HD and monitors off manually, but do I really need to?
Could I just flip the (studio stuff...
+1
When I had my setup in the living room, which is right below a paper thin ceiling with a family living upstairs, I put a miced 1x12 cab in an old (huge) freezer. The cab was connected to a Vox AC4-bl with 12AU7 tubes. Worked out really well for clean sounds!
You can get great results with an SM57 mic. They're pretty cheap and they're all over the used market.
But have a look at the plugin S-Gear 2 by Scuffham amps. It sounds better than Guitar Rig in my opinion.
Here you go: Home
If you're not satisfied with the tones you're getting with the amp simulator, you should try sticking a mic in front of your amp. I find that plugins can for some purposes deliver decent clean sounds. But an amp always sounds, and feels, better.
Thanks dude, it is getting there for sure :)
Yeah, I don't really think I need anything else at the moment. Summer holiday is coming up, so it should be time to start focusing more on the music again.
That mug is one of the very few things I didn't sell while upgrading. It is arguably the...
If you're just using them for tracking, I see no point in upgrading. If you're mixing through them, I wouldn't bother upgrading either. I'd rather save up for monitors and room treatment. Mixes probably won't get much better even with better headphones. I tried mixing through the T1 but it still...
