Amp reverb noise - tube problem?

Thanks Dave. I wish I had more knowledge of this stuff, but I don't have a clue whether it's driven by a small transformer or not. Honestly I'm not even sure what that means.. What I do know though is that the tank that's in it is from Belton Engineering and the model number is BL2AB3C1B. It...

Amp reverb noise - tube problem?

This is my thread so I feel free to bring it back up. After advice from people at the Gear Page, I finally tried getting new RCA-cables for the reverb tank, but the problem is still the same. Also I'm not sure why I said it doesn't get worse the more I turn the amp volume up, because it...

What's everyone working on at the moment?

Now those guys were the real deal. Caught them live 3 times when Hank was still in the band.

What's everyone working on at the moment?

I guess they sound good for what they do, but I'm definitely not a shredder. I would want it for the Chon stuff alone, because for some reason I really like their music even though it's very untypical for me. Chon doesn't use a lot of distortion and I really think their music would sound a lot...

How to avoid being heard while recording vocals?

A few beers help. As long as you don't have too many it can loosen you up and actually make for better takes too. I have the same problem if I do loud (screaming) vocals. There's always that little itchy "the neighboors must think I've gone insane!"-devil in the back of my head, which...

What's everyone working on at the moment?

I'm in Norway. Come to think of it though I don't think I'd be able to afford a new guitar at the moment unless I sold something.

What's everyone working on at the moment?

Yeah.. I'm not convinced that's gonna work in this particular case as that high note is held for a fraction of a second before the next one. Maybe I should just get an Ibanez. They're so easily played. But then again they sound like crap.

What's everyone working on at the moment?

    1. Working on writing a song in 3/4 titled "Ritualistic Feeding of Polar Bears by Penguins" 2. Working on learning the song "Splash" by Chon on guitar (really frustrating and will take months). Just found out my guitar doesn't even have enough frets for it :cursing:

Can you help me find a guitar?

Well, like I mentioned I don't really have good data for comparison since I've ever only played that one, but it plays really well. I can do bends high up on the neck as well, but that might have something to do with the replaced frets and Mastery bridge. I believe the frets are 6105 frets. The...

Can you help me find a guitar?

Interesting. What exactly was it that you didn't like about them? I've never tried any other Jazzmaster than my AVRI 62 with a Mastery bridge and bigger frets. The bridge and frets were already changed when I bought it.

Can you help me find a guitar?

Oh, the reason I thought they were 9,5" was this used ad: FINN – Fender Jazzmaster J Mascis signatur

    just for fun..."Highway Star"

I gotta say I really can't stand that song or even that style, BUT... ...I couldn't stop listening, because the performance and production is friggin amazing. The playing and singing is pretty much flawless and the mix sounds great. :thumbs up:

    Soundcloud showing ads now?

Get Adblock. There's one for smartphones as well but it's a dedicated browser. :thumbs up:

    Bad stereo sound

The reason separate panned guitars sound better is because of the tiny differences in your performance(s). If you had the exact same performance through the same amp using the same pickups on the same guitar they would effectively become centered as a mono track. What kind of amplifier are you...

Can you help me find a guitar?

I believe the Jazzmaster J Mascis signature model has a 9,5" radius. I also believe they're made in Japan though, but I've heard they are of really good quality comparable to the American ones. Me, I love my Jazzmaster AVRI 62. My Les Paul hasn't been touched since I got the Jazzy about a year...

    Translation problem

Yeah, here too. It might just be my ears, but without the sub my monitoring system sounds SO different from other systems that making it translate well would be extremely difficult for me.

    Vince Gill Cover

Excellent performance. I don't really have anything to say on the mix. There's not too much going on but the important thing here is to make room for the vocals. But you already did that, so... Good job!

Where is My Mind (Pixies Cover)

This is one of those songs that never gets old. An absolute classic. What I really missed is some overdrive on the guitars. Your playing is getting there although there is much practice to be had. The "one-line" main riff sounds a bit sterile, partly because of the missing overdrive but also...

    New to DAW recording

The songwriting is good, but as others have mentioned, get a better amp sim (like Amplitube or S-Gear) or better yet a mic for your amp/cab. If you're going the mic route I'd recommend a Shure SM57. As for drums, there are a few good options. Superior Drummer is pretty popular around here, as...

    Muse - Sunburn (cover)

Well the heavy guitar sound is double tracked and panned a little over 60% left and right. I guess that made some room for the vocal track which is almost centered. I did the same thing with the piano but with harder panning (100%). Also I kept the heavy guitars volume relatively low as the...
