Nice! Any comment on how they affect the sound in your room? They sure look cool!

Do I need an audio interface if I have a USB condenser mic?

Yes. Especially violin. As for the harmonica, it depends on what sound you want. There are dedicated harmonica mics out there, but you will get good quality recordings of harmonicas with an LDC.

Beats by Dre, what's the hype?

They have a lot of (not so accurate) bass, and that seems to be confused with good sound quality for a lot of people. I'm a Beyerdynamic guy myself.

ordered some new GIK bass traps....

Definitely made a difference! Paycheck coming Monday, so I'll order some more stuff from GIK then. Maybe a pair of tri-traps, a pair of 244s and one of those monster bass traps with a scatter plate. Did you get any more stuff from GIK, and if so how are you liking it?

    Thoughts for the bedroom recordist

Great post! I'm not sure I agree that converter quality is that important though.

Do I need an audio interface if I have a USB condenser mic?

What instruments are we talking about? LDC mics are excellent for vocals, acoustic guitars and drum overheads. You might also want to consider finding a used Røde NT-5. That's a small condenser microphone. I never tried those, but it might give you more clarity than an LDC, but the LDC will...

    Guitar amp poll

Heritage Victory. It is fucking amazing for clean tones and takes pedals in a way I haven't ever heard in an amp before.

Do I need an audio interface if I have a USB condenser mic?

I might suggest finding a used SE2200a from SE Electronics. That was my first LDC mic and I'm still using it to this day. As for audio interface, see if you can find a used Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. They are very decent for the price. I've had the 18i6 version at it worked very well and I never...

Acoustic guitar going out of tune very fast

Yeah, I completely forgot. Stretching the strings is vital and may well be your solution here.

    Two midi controllers

I pretty sure you'll need a MIDI THROUGH instead of OUT in order to do this. On some devices the OUT can act as THROUGH. There might be other solutions that I'm not aware of, so I'd wait for someone else to chime in here.

Acoustic guitar going out of tune very fast

I assume it was a pretty cheap guitar since you're a beginner? Unfortunately, cheap guitars go out of tune quickly. That's why I never recommend cheap guitars for beginners, because it is so much of a hassle to tune when you're just starting out. The tuning pegs could be a little loose though...

I need to know about midi controllers for guitar...

I'd look into the Liquid Foot Controllers. They look neat and apparently handle CC well. http://www.liquid-foot.com/products.shtml For less money, the PEAK controllers seem pretty cool. The smaller model can only handle one channel at once though, which may or may not be enough for you...

ACK ! ACK ! NEWBIE here, saying hello...

If a Martian says "gah-GAH-gah... GA-GAH!!" it means "We come in peace". Important lesson right there. dainbramage - who once drank bong water by accident (really).

ACK ! ACK ! NEWBIE here, saying hello...

So who supplies the bong water then?

Usually how many guitar track should I record in one song?

The guitar solos might be recorded on their own tracks, separately from the rhythm guitars. That way you can pan it however you feel like. Could also be that the solos are doubled tracked. (I haven't listened to the song you're referring to)

    Tracking bass guitar

I've heard many people track bass direct. Do you? If you do, do you use any plugins? If not, how do you mic your amp? I'm not asking what's best. I'm asking what you prefer and why.
