    The lost art of living

Yeah, I'm with you on the piano sound. I wanted a more muted tone then I have been using, and I like the tone, and it plays like a dream - but to be honest I don't know where all the room is coming from on the piano. I've been using Garritan CFX and it has a huge amount of options. I turned off...

    The lost art of living

Hey man - thanks for checking it out. The vocal is total fail and driving me crazy, I've tried it about 102 ways now and I think I am going to try it in one more key then just write it off and give up. One question on the piano - is it the sound (i.e. bad sounding sampled piano) that sounds...

    Video for they dont

I retracked some stuff, did a bunch of edits and worked on the overall mix. I didn't post the final because it had rolled way off page 1 and I didn't want to bump... One huge payoff I was thinking off is if that gigantic truck had run me over lol :-) I was also thinking about having a dog...

    The lost art of living

This is a track I've been working on that's been KILLING me. Stylistically I am going for a 60s kind of vibe. I realize the vocal is super wet - that part is intentional, and that my vocal is all over the map and pitchy - so it goes - I've tried about 100 vocal takes of this thing.. I had this...

    Video for they dont

Hi, Made this extremely boring video for my track they don't. Like just about all my tracks for the past few years this one went through the clinic. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Chuck

Slowly being driven insane by Studio One 3

This is what I posted on presonus forum. Posting here to see if anyone else has similar experience. Starting to lose it and ready to go back to Cubase. ======================================================================== Background - I have been home recording since 87 and using DAWs since...

    They Don't

Based on some comments I cleaned up some of the fudged bass, guitar and drums. Lowered bass, lowered verb master, compressed OH a little, lowered input to mains limiter. Didn't have the stuff to re-record from scratch cause I moved on to another one :-) Posted Mix 3 on top post. Let me know...

Worst change to a guitar made by the manufacturer?

One of my friends called it that :-)

Worst change to a guitar made by the manufacturer?

The SECOND I saw this thread I knew this was going to come up lol. I have a 97 Gibson Les Paul Special Lite fitted with locking tuners and a gigantic bigsby. It is my favorite of all favorites, even if it is a pussy guitar lol

    Swimming Upstream

Too funny. There is a great De La Soul song called exactly eyepatch :-)

    They Don't

Hey thanks for checking it out. I love the room. It's big with hardwoods and high ceilings and after a lifetime of recording in an 8X10 basement room with 8 foot ceilings it is a breath of fresh air. Most of the sound of the drums is the real room. I did add a little of the same room reverb to...

    They Don't

Hey Ido - thanks for checking it out and the kind words. I got you on the flubs. There are a couple guitar flubs and some drub flubs. I was going to re-record the track this weekend, but got lost in recording another one :-) Agree with you on the bass. Will try some cuts and bumps when I...

    Between these two interfaces

At that price point I would go with Focusrite or PreSonus AudioBox. I've used both. Decent converters. Won't win any awards but I recorded hundreds of tracks with the Focusrite and it got the job done.

    They Don't

I am really hearing all kinds of backing vocals too, and Hammond in a couple spots :-) I'm also happy that I've proved out my mono drums micing quest and can get drums I am basically happy with - using a single overhead and a kick mic. Now my playing ANOTHER MATTER ENTIRELY :-) Chuck

    They Don't

Hey MJB I hear you about the squashing when I sing way louder in a sort of call/response. Kind of intended the compression as an effect. I guess it is technically 'wrong', but I got what I wanted from the effect. Tried rolling some high end off the drums, but it kills the hat, and since I'm...

    They Don't

Thanks for checking it out. I am going to chop up the vocal into phrases and touch up the volume level of the problem ones in the editor. I get exactly what you are mean... ---------- Update ---------- Hey thanks for the listen and the comment - made my day :-)

Hey Robus, sorry to hear that. I added Mix 2 as an attachment to the top post.

    They Don't

I like google drive a lot. I have google drive sync on my DAW and mixdown there and it syncs to all my other computers and iPhone. Then I can check mixes all over the place and in the car, and post here. Robus posted that the link doesn't work for him, which is disappointing. The shaky part is...

    They Don't

Hmm.. Hadn't noticed that, will check it out. Only thing I can think of is that the piano is bumping up against the limiter I have on the mains as there is no compressor on the piano. I used 2:1 compressors on the vox (you can hear it kick in when I yell but I liked it), bass, OH and kick.
