Dancing Is My Dump Stat - new VHS song

I know you are looking for mix input, but this is a seriously cool song - love it. Few random thoughts: * Vocal has a lot of dynamic range, maybe try and compress it a bit * Vocal is pretty high in mix - if you are using a limiter over the track I think vocal is hitting it first - makes rest...

How's the mix on this Rock/Prog Rock tune?

Not a genre I listen to a lot but pretty damn cool. The vocals are super smooth and well done. Guitars are nice and buttery. The drums break it for me though, and it's not just the intro. I'm not even sure if it's because they are canned. I think they could work if they just didn't feel so...

    Solo demo 4 tracks. 50s 60s influenced

The songs, arrangements, instrumentation playing and vocals are freaking great. Can't really find fault with the craftmanship as it is all good stuff and right up my alley. The mixes are thin, low in level, faraway sounding, way too much high end and a little grating. Chuck

    Mix of a Live song

The song had all the right parts. Chugging, crunching guitars and careening off kilter guitar lines. Overall pretty tight, I wouldn't have walked away if I was seeing this live UNTIL. You already know the weak link - vocals phoned in and blatantly wrong.

    Old country song on piano

Thanks for checking it out guys. I will probably take another wack at it without the click :-) I don't have any closed headphones and the click always comes through.

Need some good cheap recording headphones

The main problem with mixing on headphones is that everything sounds fantastic on the headphones you happen to be using at the time, but the mixes won't translate well to other headphones or devices like home stereo, car stereo, ear buds, etc. You can counteract this a bit by checking your mixes...

My new (old) U3 piano and the recording thereof, part deux

Wow I had given up on this, thanks for the reply :-) There are a few stray mechanical noises coming from below the hammers on a few notes, but no sticky keys. Were you thinking of mechanical noise?

Anybody need or want piano on a track....

Hi All, If the mods think this post is off topic and move please consider I posted it here because it gets the most action and a lot of people I like and know from over the years post original tracks here. I have my new/old Yamaha U3 upright and a good stereo mic and recording setup now but a...

    Tape duplication

They are copying video - the copy would be is a mirror image (what jp called inverted), so they correct that by making a mirror image master first, then duplicating from that.

In what weird parallel universe are Jeff Tweedy and Andy partridge underrated? :-) Freedy - agreed.

    "Refurbished" computers?

I don't know if you are anywhere near a MicroCenter, but they have stacks and stacks of refurbished, high quality, off-lease corporate desktops. I've purchased a few over the years, and recommended them to others. Everything they sell has a legit copy of Windows, has been inspected, cleaned and...

My new (old) U3 piano and the recording thereof, part deux

Continuation of last post on my recently purchased 76 Yamaha U3 upright. Finally got it tuned after about a month to get acclimated to new environment. After some false starts with ground loop/noise issues, noisy power, gain issues, mic problems, boom problems, etc. I am finally up and...

    cold, cold ground

Drums are right up my alley and I love the overall room sound on them. I would seriously consider pushing that bass up, I really want to hear it meld with the kick, big and fat - I think the track would drive a little better. The acoustic seems well recorded, but for some reason it doesn't cut...
