Looking For Pro Tools 5.1 Mac

Looking through my Protools disks I have a version of 5.2.1 that came with my mbox, but I am not sure where the serial is or if you even need one with that disk, cause I never used it. Back then I was on windows but now i'm on mac. I do have all of manuals so maybe if u know a little more than...

    Help

I believe that would be the correct cable, best way is to look at your mic and your pre, and then go to a music store and match it up, but most are the same.

    Help

A lot of people would say get the more expensive ones, but honestly I have a set that I paid $12 for a xlr cable and it sounds fine to me, I have even taken my same equipment to the studio where I work and have hooked it up there with the expensive cables and still got the same sound.

    Black Lion Pres?

The pres in the 003 are decent, they don't color the sound at all so you are getting a "true" sound, and I have never used the black lion mod, but I wouldn't suggest it because wouldn't that void your warranty on the 003

Is there any talk of a pro-tools in between LE and HD?

I am not saying it like that which is why i put it in quotations, because a lot of ppl say that they do and I don't think so I was just quoting a couple of people on the boards here, I honestly think with a good mix the pre's don't have to be the greatest to get it sounding good. I like the...

    Have Mixer or Mixerless?

Really it all is up to your preference, a mixer doesnt make your mix better or worse. I used to have to have a mixer just because I loved to mix with it, but I can mix so much faster with keyboard and mouse than I can using my d8b which is mainly because protools only let's me use 8 faders at a...

Normally ill mix the song, eq, comp. and set my levels one night. If i'm not tired of the song then Ill do all of the editing and all that good stuff but sometimes I just do the basics and then come back to it in a day or two so I can go at it with fresh ears, especially if I just got done...

Is there any talk of a pro-tools in between LE and HD?

I guess on the board I'm one of the few that I talked about, I use my 002r just to connect everything in but I use a different comp/preamp and I also use a mackie d8b for my control surface so really my 002r is just has my mic input going into it, I don't use the pre's or anything. So it...

Is there any talk of a pro-tools in between LE and HD?

Well like I said from a "company" standpoint if they spent more money to put better pres in those products it would easily drive the price up on each unit by around $1000. And with most ppl using their on pres/compressors it would be a waste of money. It's all about affordability and profits.

Is there any talk of a pro-tools in between LE and HD?

Well if you think about it, out of all of the systems the mbox 1 had the best pres in the focusrite for the pricerange and for an all in 1 box but anyways. I look at it like this why would they spend big money on putting excellent pres in their units when most people use other pres/compressors...

    Vocal recording + clipping woes.

I wouldn't worry about it clipping unless it starts distorting "clicking/popping & all that kind of stuff" in mixdown I would chop it up have the quiet parts on one track and the louder vocals on another.

how much of your equipment/skill/time is only necessary for fixing musician issues?

Just to put it short, if the musician is a "pro" then I know that the session is gonna go easy and I can relax. But if I get a "beginner" then I know it's going to be a lot of hard work involved, as far as tutoring and mixing. So the better the musician knows their stuff the better everything...

Is there any talk of a pro-tools in between LE and HD?

Basically LE is the step down from HD just because like the other guys said they don't want to cut into their own market anymore, and the only reason we see LE around is because digi didn't want to miss out in the money for all of the "home" studios floating around.

When my microphone's volume is turned up to a decent level I get distortion

You might not think it is a "decent" volume because you are looking at the waveform their is a button in protools that will make a smaller waveform look a little bit bigger, which in this case I think is your problem you are seeing a small waveform and you are turning up the gain, In this case...
