    M-audio 610 and mbox

lol so you want to know if you can "reap all the beneifts of the ProFire" or "use just the S/PDIF"?? Which one was it? According to your specs, yes you can use the S/PDIF in stand alone (which is rather rare for an interface to do) But also according to your specs, you're not going to be able...

    M-audio 610 and mbox

calm down...you posted an hour ago, then one minute later complained that no body replied to your thread. We don't all sit around the computer hoping you'd post a question so we can reply to it. Do you already have the ProFire? And if so why do you not want to use M-Powered...

    Starter question

You are correct. The Mbox 2 would be your soundcard. Most any computer you purchase will have a simple sound card on it (either on the motherboard or not). The Mbox 2 will work with many other programs besides Pro Tools, but I find it easier just to leave the Digi device to run with Pro Tools...

Looking for a control computer surface

no no, you misunderstood. The M-Audio Uno isn't one of the Pro Tools M-Powered interfaces. It's a dedicated MIDI interface that works not only with an M-Powered setup, but also Pro Tools LE, Pro Tools HD and Pro Tools TDM...as well as other software programs. It's just an easy, cheap way to get...

Looking for a control computer surface

either would work. I've used the Mackie before and it's fine. Just see which one has the features that you would like better...and check up on the reviews of the units and how it works with Pro Tools. Some surfaces' buttons don't all work with Pro Tools. and of course price will help with your...

    Pro Tools noob question...

    18 inputs max on the 003 8 analog (4 pres and 4 line), 8 ADAT Optical and 2 S/PDIF http://protoolsforum.com/ProToolsLE1.html (a little dated, but 98% complete)

    Pitch slow down or something

I've used it for a few things. It's pretty fun to play with. Just confusing when you first try and figure out how the controls works. Because you can simulate both the stop and start of a tape machine...and control the amount of speed up or slow down you want.

    Audio To Video

what frame rate are you working with....what is your session's frame rate set at? Do you have any pull up/pull down options enabled?

    Which Version to get?

If you have and like Cubase...stick with Cubase. There's no need for you to switch over to Pro Tools unless you think you'll be working at a studio someday soon that has it. Or if you are just interested in trying a new program because you aren't feeling Cubase. Don't get wrapped up in the...

Who Has Upgraded From USB to FireWire?

maybe I should go work at Digi ;):p

Who Has Upgraded From USB to FireWire?

you're still going to need to go from Interface to CPU to HD....the processor needs to do it's job first before you write to disc. Otherwise we'd just plug hard drives into our Mboxes any CPU usage differences (if any) between USB 1.1 and Firewire will be minimal, especially with processors...

Recording with reverb and no latency

put the reverb on the aux and then turn off low latency...but keep a lower buffer size. It's the direct monitoring that is screwing him up...and this is because your putting the reverb on the audio track causes a delay in both the wet and dry sound.

I REALLY need help. im pretty clueless

no, the 001 supports 18 simultaneous inputs...again reference that link I gave you above. Almost all devices are listed (sorry it hasn't been updated in forever so a few might be missing on the M-Powered side) Don't feel as if you NEED Pro Tools just because everyone else has it. That's the...

I REALLY need help. im pretty clueless

start here: http://protoolsforum.com/ProToolsLE1.html no the presonus wouldn't work with Pro Tools why do you feel you need Pro Tools? If you are on a budget there are a lot of other programs out there that offer the same and maybe even more features that pro tools does.

    HD to LE

yeah, I stated that without checking first, sorry. I swear I've seen the delay time change as I've adjusted SOMETHING...but when I got in the studio after the weekend I couldn't replicate it. Most likely it's because the delay time listed doesn't take into account your playback buffer since...

    HD to LE

again, the delay compensation is built into the playback buffer. Yes, it is not the same thing as the ADC on Pro Tools HD, but since we're dealing with a host based system the hardware buffer takes care of most simple plugins. Put a Digi EQ on a track and you'll notice that the delay on that...

    HD to LE

LE does have delay compensation built into the playback buffer. Any delay that a plugin might induce that is less than the playback buffer setting...the buffer will take care of it. So simple EQ, compressors, etc (most Digi plugs) will be accounted for. It's not until you get into the reverbs...
