I know little about drum tuning or even drums. I thought it was a good read since I've seen many refer to it. Do you know of a better source for drum tuning on the internet? If so, please share! :)

Pretty much any modern laptop should have no trouble with audacity and 4 tracks. Maybe if you had 5 plug ins on each track you might start having more issues. But generally, with that kind of session you will be fine on any modern laptop. 3-4 gigs is generous for that application. I had a...

Hey thanks Steve! Yeah it's totally a concept album. My band mate especially is obsessed with sleep. This album is supposed to go from falling asleep, to dreaming, to nightmares, to confusion, to sparsity, to dreamings, to waking up etc. That's one reason the songs have crossfades in between...

I know exactly what you mean. Same with my music, I want the lyrics to be intelligible but not like pop vocals. I want them to be mixed with the instruments, not the instruments around the vocals. Indie rock! Didn't expect that music to come out of someone with zeppelin as their user name. :)

Awesome song. I'm listening on headphones so take with a grain of salt. I thought the vocals come up a bit. I like the loud drums but the vocals seemed pretty far back most of the time, when her voice is pretty damn cool. Your band? Sounds like the strings on a Mellotron. I love those things...

How do you choose what microphone to use? Do you pick a few that would seem most suitable then have a mic shootout to find the best one? Do you know before you hear the source? What makes you choose a certain microphone? How do you know it's the one for the job? I'd love to hear a few views...

I'm not sure which microphone is my favorite microphone for vocals but I do know that my choice would vary between singers. One mic might sound good with a breathy female vocal while get real ugly on a male death metal vocal.
