Hi,
I am looking into buying a hardware compressor mainly for vocals, and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on what to get.
I am looking for something along the cheaper end of the scale and was wondering if there are any hardware comps out there that are decent for a low price...
You have phase issues between the 2 mics. When setting up your mics monitor them in mono and move them about until you get a full sound taking care to listen to the low end. As the mics go out of phase you will hear the low end dropping away.
It's just a matter of taking your time setting up the...
Yes that seems like a fine set up, but as mentioned before you need a good source ie good drums to get a good recording. So spend time tuning the kit and use skins that are in good condition, then you can play about with mic placement.
I would start with the OHs, set them up so there is no...
I am using Wordpress but I can upgrade my account so I can embed scripts and PHP and upload most files etc.
Yeah I think I will look into that.

I knew you would like that idea Greg.
You do realize this is the Mixing section and not the recording section? And that the OP is looking for a fix at Mixing?
Yeah it should be fixed at the source, drums, mics, mic placement, but that's more recording issues.

Recording at 24bit I would say is the norm these days. Compared to 16bit, 24bit recording mean you have much much more bits to work with so you can keep your recording levels lower. I tend to record to around -6dB peak.
As for 48kHz sample rate, make sure you stay at 48kHz the whole project...
Does anyone know of any good sites that handle 320kbps MP3 streaming and are free?
I am using Soundcloud at the moment which only streams at 128kbps, and I need to stream at 320kbps for my Mixing and Mastering website.

I tend to use a de-esser and also volume automation to get rid of sibilance. Sometimes volume automation is enough on it's own and sometimes a de-esser is enough, but on tracks with loads of sibilance I tend to use both techniques.
