    dB of typical drum kits?

I've busted 2 Pinstripe heads and I don't hit that hard! I think alot of drummers have poor technique and that's why they break things. I use to use 2B sticks, now I use 5Bs. Much better. I broke the Pinstripes when I used the bigger sticks and one of the pinstripes was on the snare...

    Cymbals, Cymbals, and more Cymbals.

24 inch ride I currently have a Zildjian 24" A Medium ride and it's a great cymbal. The bell on it is awesome. I also have 15" Zildjian New Beat hi hats and they're very musical. These guy's are just giving you their opinion when they say 24" rides and 15" hats aren't very good. I respect...

Building an isolation tunnel for kick

Some guys just use a larger bass drum shell for their tunnel. If you have a 22'' kick, then get a 24" shell and use that as your tunnell.

there is a different between Acoustic foam and Soundproofing foam

Hey Rod, I'm just giving ya a hard time. You do have very good information and I like reading what you post. I'm amused sometimes on the arguments that take place here and it's interesting how all the information comes out. We all appreciate the time you spend on the board helping...

Did you teach yourself how to play drums?

I love it when drummers keep time with the hi hat foot! It helps me as a guitarist know exactly where the drummere is, for example, in a "break" or a "stop" in a song. It actually irritates me when drummers don't do that, or they try and use their stick in place of the foot durring these pauses...

Does Fender make a tube amp in America anymore?

I bought my 212 Deville in '01 and it was made in the USA. After 3 years of "warranty repairs" (8 to be exact) it was finally exchanged under warranty for a new one in Nov '04. The replacement was Made in Mexico. Companies are always trying to cut costs any way they can. If they can pay a...

What's in your live guitar rig rack?

I have a Switchcraft cable going straight from my Les Paul right into a Fender 212 DeVille combo fitted with JJ tubes.

    What is the biggest ride?

Cymbal bags I don't think they make a cymbal bag bigger than a 22".

there is a different between Acoustic foam and Soundproofing foam

Nice work Ethan! Now Ron Gervis and Mach311 can shut up!! LOL! I think this is what everybody needs anyway, proof. Both Ron and Mach had valid arguments but I think your tests showed us all...you get what you pay for. I've learned the hard way that you have to do things right the first time. If...

    What is the biggest ride?

Zildjian currently makes a 24" A Medium Ride. It's got a pretty good sound. It's got a big bell, it's dark and it's got a little more ping than I was looking for but you can still wash it out and crash on it. Paiste also makes a 24" 2002 Ride. That's what John Bonham used. I've seen 26" Zildjian...

The Soundproofing Thread, aka No Noise Outside

Well, I guess you put me in my place Rod. I understand every situation is different. But the question was soundproofing an existing structure, not "what else could I do?" That was good advice. It was relevent to the question, even though yours was not. People on this forum are looking for...

The Soundproofing Thread, aka No Noise Outside

Wouldn't it be nice if the people who responded actually had replied with something regarding your initial post? "Build a seperate structure.." or "Test the room you have now.." Why don't these guys just read the goddamn post and reply with something that actually has to do with it. I understand...

    Buying brand new heads

Remo coated Emperors will give you a bit more punch, though you'll have to tune them a little bit higher. They have more tone than a Pinstripe in my opinion. Pinstripes have that low, wet Lars Ulrich sound. I suggest clear ambassadors for the bottoms. For the Kick, Evans Emad.

    cracked crash

It's time for a new cymbal. Once they crack, they're garbage. Drilling a hole doesn't solve the problem. it'll continue to crack, then the crack will split and pretty soon you'll have pieces missing out of the cymbal. Needless to say, it'll also start to sound like shit.

Soloing: when to use major or minor pentatonic

Usually, if you hit a wrong note, one that will work is only a half step away. I like harmonic minor scales myself. Most of the stuff I play is major/minor penatonics but for me,the modes come in handy for different things. We have a song in the key of A major and the bassist plays an E...

    hats for recording

If you're going to use 13's I suggest the Zildjian K's you mentioned. I also agree with the guys who posted 14" Zildjian new beats being versatile. I've discovered that 15" New beats record well too. Good luck.

    Worst Drummers...

Alot of drummers (especially younger ones) think that playing simple is "boring" or "That guy sucks because he doesn't do any fills dude." The most important part of being a drummer is keeping time, and playing for the song. Alot of drummers forget that. You can't stick Niel Peart in AC/DC and...

What is the use of a telecaster?

Actually, Led Zeppelin 1 is a Tele, but from there he mostly used a Les Paul up until Presence..except "Stairway" which was a Tele. So your statement about Jimmy using a Tele that much is false. I like Telecasters better than strats. I think They play and sound better.
