    Geddy Lee tone

It depends what era of Rush you're talking about. The early '70s rush "All The Worlds A Stage" and before tone or the newer "Vapor Trails" or "Feedback" tone. In the early days he mainly used SVTs and mainly the Rick. Now, he uses Fender Jazz basses and no amps at all. Just a preamp ran...

How much of an angle does everyone have on the rack toms

Everybody should take a look at Tim Browns kit! You all should get a set up like his if you play rock! Maybe he'll post another pic. His kit is awesome. I use one rack tom mounted on a snare stand. I basicly have the Bonham set up exept i've got a 14x24 kick instead of the 14x26 (for now). The...

A ride that doesn't ring like crazy?

Duct tape should be avoided. A moongel does the same thing though it might fall off. If you're going to use tape, masking tape works and is easily removable.

Fender Blues DeVille - She's breaking up!??

I had a similiar amp, a 212 DeVille. I had nothing but problems with it and took it in 8 times under warrantee for several problems before it was replaced. It burned grid resisters, then it would break up, then the last 4 times, it would have intermittent gain and would switch inbetween the 2...

4 drums or 5 and more..?

True. My friend use to set up 2 kicks because it looked cool. He couldn't play double bass but the reaction from people at the club was funny. "Auh cool! Double bass! That's awesome."

4 drums or 5 and more..?

18" floor I agree with the hanging tom shit. Every time you hit them, they move and I hate that. Bun E. Carlos will sometimes use a 8x12 rack and 14x14 and 16x16 floor tom setup which is cool. I actually like the 10x14 rack and the 16x16 and 16x18 setup. I have a 14x24 kick and I'll eventually...

how do you pan your guitars?

Hard Panning Listen to AC/DC records. Malcolm and Angus sometimes play slightly different parts and it works great. It also helps seperate the sounds alittle bit so you can distinguish who's playing what. All AC/DC records exept Fly On The Wall and Flick Of The Switch are mixed that way. The...

    Recording Overdriven Guitar

Nice post! it's funny because you've posted the exact same post in another forum awhile back. Do you have it saved on your computer and just cut and paste it into the message space when you post? I'm not mocking you or your experience or knowledge, I'm just curious. Great advise though. I've...

    Cover Song question...

Ok, so you have to have permission to record a cover song because every copy you sell, the author of the song is entitled to a percentage of the sale, right? What about when you play a cover song live? After all, You got paid for the performance, so does the author and publishing company get a...

    Greatest Singer of All Time?

Wow!!! Some of my favorite singers haven't made the list.....until now! Robin Zander-Cheap Trick. This guy can sing anything!!! He's my all time favorite!!!!!!!!!!! Bon Scott-AC/DC. This guy was great. Very distinctive voice and he had the Biggest balls of them all!!! Brian Johnson-AC/DC...

4 drums or 5 and more..?

It would put a damper on your creativity. You're too limited when you have no rack. I know a guy who used to play a 3 piece like that and he was always crossing his left hand over to play the floor tom and getting sloppy in the process. One rack and one floor is all you need but I like having 2...

    highway to hell kick drum

I am aware that bands record using different gear sometimes, but this is AC/DC. If you brought in a Les Paul and told Angus to play it he would probably tell you to fuck yourself. These guy's do what they want. Mutt Lang might've been able to make Def Leppard play what ever kick drum or guitar...

    highway to hell kick drum

He was not using 26" kicks. All the footage i've seen (Including bootlegs) he's not using a 26" kick. Maybe a 24". Remember, the guy's only 5' 6" so you'd know if he was playing a 26". Rudd used 2 rack toms, and on HIghway To Hell and Back In Black he used 3 racks. On For Those About To Rock...

4 drums or 5 and more..?

4 drums are basically all you need. I Play with a 14," rack and 16" and 18" floor toms and the 16" is the main tom. I don't use the 18" all that much, though I like having it there for certain accents and things. If you were going to add another tom, I would add another floor tom, an 18". That...

    highway to hell kick drum

Phil Rudd plays a 22" kick drum. Back when that album was recorded it might've been a 14x22. He started using Sonar Drums about "Powerage." Before he used Slingerland. Knowing AC/DC, It was problably wasn't any special technique or anything to get that sound. He most likely removed the front...
