    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

I picked up the 48 a couple days ago. Only issue was the counter roller, rubber has gone sticky (which he told me ahead of time, luckily he owns/owned two 48's, and he put the good one from the machine he uses regularly, on to test everything. I put it through the ringer, and everything checked...

    Tascam M520 Story...

Yeah, he certainly has some great gear to go with all of it. I just think it's cool that apparently his console (according to any photos/videos I've seen) is an old Tascam. Here is a link to the video. ALBUM ANNOUNCE // Damien Jurado’s ‘Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son’ Coming in...

    Tascam M520 Story...

Cory, I ready somewhere on here that you sold this to Richard Swift. He has produced some really incredible records in the last few years, Damien Jurardo's last 3 records (Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Sun is soo good and total ear candy), and also Foxygen's last record, which is also...

    Newbie: Vox/VU on Tascam 388

There really are no wrong answers, it's all a matter of what you like. There is no better way to learn than hands on and experimenting, you will learn way more from that than all the opinions you get from arrogant Hacks like me :) I also think you are way better off listening to A Reel Person...

    Newbie: Vox/VU on Tascam 388

I'm a little confused on the question...so forgive me, I don't want to sound condescending. A good general practice when you are having trouble getting a part to sit well in a mix, is to turn down your other tracks all the way down, adjust the fader/eq of the track you are having trouble with...

Right on, that turned out great! With lots of room to grow too!

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

Awesome info, and opinions, really helping me make a sound decision(or not). Still just a tough call. I think I'm leaning towards the 48 though. I was able to sell my 388 for more than I expected, and picked up my 308-b for way cheaper than I expected (although I really wanted a M-50, but that...

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

That's great to know. One of the first things I had to get work done on my 388 was the power supply, and it wasn't cheap. Unfortunately at the time, I didn't know so well how to diagnose issues, and find a fix, or even know that you can find parts for these boards so easy, and just pull one card...

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

Thanks for the feedback! Dude is firm on the price, which is high(seen em sold for higher on ebay). The guy selling the tsr-8 is pretty laid back, and his price is really good(he has 2 others that he uses, and this one is just sitting), however he is a 2 hour drive from me, and I need $65 part...

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

Not a big dbx user, I embrace the hiss, and compared to the 388 I imagine both have considerably less hiss, and I rarely used the dbx on the 388. But I didn't do a ton of bouncing.

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

Quick add to the above, I have a M-308b board to pair it with(a bunch of high quality pre-amps as well, and some good outboard gear). I'm getting this specifically to produce a record for a very good band, that want's to go all analog, and I don't have space for a washing machine sized deck...

    Tascam TSR-8 Vs Tascam 48-ob

Hey all, I have an opportunity to purchase a Tascam tsr-8 for $450, in good condition (needs a new pinch roller, due to rubber going bad), or a Tascam 48-ob, also in good condition $900. Tape heads on both machines are said to be in great condition. I know all the differences in features, and...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

I meant to say (not 2" studer/otari/sony good). Although I have heard some pretty wonderful sound recordings on the Tascam 1/2" 8 track machines. Would really love to have 16 for flexibility, but hey, work with what you got! Looking forward to picking up a tsr-8.

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Thanks yall! They are a good young band, just getting going, and the singer/songwriter is crazy talented. He did his vox in one take, on each song (at midnight after several PBR's), I didn't have to do any punching, or create a comp track, very little need for compression, and in between each...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Hey all, these are my last two songs I recorded on my Tascam 388. It's a Seattle band that I'm producing a record for, Lonely Mountain Lovers, in my house, and we did these two as a little pre-full length project that they will release on a 7". They are not completely done, as the organ player...

    Rmgi lpr-35 tape

Well was never able to figure out what the deal was....but I sold it to my friend, who's far better at tinkering than I. I picked up a M-308B, in pristine condition, and will be checking out a tsr-8 in Aberdeen(two hours from Seattle) from a super nice guy who's been recording since way before I...

    TASCAM 388 eBay alert!

Sweet, I almost did that, I came up with a bunch of designs(was going for the old school 60's console look). Than I bought a house, and ran out time. Someday I'll build a cool console desk. Love to see pics when it's done!

    TASCAM 388 eBay alert!

They also work sooo well with a DAW. Route everything into a patch bay, use the mixer for ins and outs, mic pre's, record the stuff you want on tape, dump it in to the computer, in seconds, play back through the mixer. It's everything you want in a low budget (not so low anymore) tape/computer...

    TASCAM 388 eBay alert!

Yeah, I started drooling over them when they started getting hot...five years ago, bought one for about $650, 3 years ago (pristine condition) put in a few hundred since than, refurbishing it. I'll actually be selling it soon, and moving on to a wider format, I won't have any problem recouping...
