I have been told to always mix my songs in mono then move them into stereo to truely get the most out of my recordings...but when i mix music in mono things tend to clash horrible...the guitars sound muddled and it's just horrible...what should i be doing?

I've gotten excellent results using the amp case from one of my larger combo amps to mic a much smaller amplifier in...crank the little guy to 7 or 8 slam an sm57 close to the sweet spot...not a professional isolation box but i think it works excellent for something i did for free

So im micing my roland cube 15 with an sm57....the amp is inside an amp case with foam inside and a blanket covering it...the mic goes into my alesis multimix usb mixer then into my computer...problem is is that when i play back my sound i seem to have almost no bass at all in my sound...its...

So basically all i have is 50$ to spend on a pair of headphones...i would like them to be closed back and have a descent enough frequency range to allow me to do some very rough mixing as i cannot afford monitors...if you were on this budget what would you purchase?

Right because once you add in all of those other instruments frequencies may begin to clash...which is why a high pass is important because you will clean up some of the "mud" of the lower frequencies...starting to get this...thanks guys...really wish i was on MY computer right now so i could...

Um im not sure what you asking...if you are trying to get sound to play back through your headphones that you have plugged into your mixer you will need to set the mixer as not only your input but also your output device in your softwares properties option...but im not sure you can setup your...

Right so now i have an idea on how to deal with the frequencies above and below the range of any particular instrument now what of those right in the "meat"...how would i deal with those?...i know i should just go about trusting my ear but any guidelines you guys work by?

Another question for you guys...when trying to get a bass drum with alot of attach and punch do you mic the drum with or without a reso head?...what are some of the benefits and cons of doing either one

Using the USB cable that came with the mixer...there should be an output for one on the same panel were the power adapter is inserted...

I see...so low pass should be much more carefully handled then high pass...but its important to find a nice seating in the mix for each instrument based on its frequency range...but how about those instruments who's frequencies overlap?...is it up to me how i chose to place these sounds or is...

No offense is taken...i completely agree with what you are saying...but i DO spend most of my time messing around with my equipment...but when i run out of ideas in how to go about fixing a problem i give my ears and brain some rest and come post on here...and most of the questions i have asked...

So i have one large diaphragm condenser free and i dont have any small diaphragm condensers to use as overheads...could using this large diaphragm condenser actually get good results?...i also have some pg58's free...could using two of these work as overheads?...right now i have limited mics to...
