At least in Cubase, tossing in a bit of a fade at each end of a cut is a simple click and drag function. No reason not to do it to make sure everything is nice and clean.

I've been doing it backwards from you. I put all the tracks into a new project and then level out the mixes by ear to get the right levels, and then I limit the project to bring them all up in level.

You must have a system issue of some kind because those plugs have never crashed on me. I use at least one in most projects these days. Sorry, no input on useless plugs atm :o

I think I know what the OP means because my interface has a mono/stereo switch that does nothing.. I just use a mono button on a stereo imaging plug inserted on my master buss instead.

I made a nice little project template for mine with all the busses, typical FX tracks, etc (no plugins though, I might do that eventually as there are some go to plugs for me recently). I just add all my tracks, assign their routing, get levels and go to town. Very slick

Interesting! I literally do the exact same thing. I haven't completely worked out the compression on my different busses except for the drums to some degree, but I really enjoy my workflow management when I work this way.
