    Robert Fripp

I think we should let Bill Edwards explain the tuning to him... :D Anyway - I can accept that attitude from Fripp... Strange, as a rule skill and knowledge brings modesty. I guess he's one of the exceptions from that rule.

how do you write great, professional, commercial, catchy melodies?

I just want to add that this is the only book with that focus I've read. So I'm not saying it's the best or even "good". I'm only stating that it did have an impact on my sorry self...

how do you write great, professional, commercial, catchy melodies?

Yes they can! :) And it still is hard work... I don't want to argue with you. But that's one of the important things I got out from that book. It showed me other ways to come up with melodies. So I "left the box" I had been in. In essence creativity...

Myth or Truth? That Pro Studios Have Real Stuff that We Could Never Get or Afford.

It's a bit funny that time is the one area where those of us who are weekend warriors should be able to compete. But we don't have the patience.

how do you write great, professional, commercial, catchy melodies?

Dick Weissman's "Creating melodies" gave me some nice ideas and tools. Note that it's a bit basic and not a songwriting book but a melody-writing book.

What does your girlfriend/wife/gay lover think about your recording hobby

She likes it and supports it, she just bought me a Variax for my birthday! The studio is in a spare room in the house so it doesn't mess things up. She knows it's just a hobby - no other goals than having fun. But she also knows that it's my way of coping and keeping my stresslevels in the green...

Synths - Where do I start?

That M-audiolink should have been to a Evolution MK-461C, not sure what happened... 5 Octaves is a minimum to me...

Synths - Where do I start?

Making some assumptions here. You haven't made any investments yet, but plan on using a computer with reasonable horsepower for recording and plan on using a software with DXi and/or VSTi capability. Recording is your only planned use for the keyboard/module. I would get something like this...

IS Cakewalk still current and supported?

This has to be the most stupid argument I've ever let myself into on this site. And just so we're clear - I don't really give a... But as you ask- I see a box with Cakewalk(tm) as a singular word and texts where Cakewalk is mentioned as the sequencer. Btw, I phrased it carefully so I wouldn't...

    Lost Metronome in Sonar

This has been a frequent topic over at Cakewalks own forum. Sonar doesn't have any real audio metronome (yet). There's lots of workarounds though, so it's worth searching the forum. A popular choice is using "PingDXi", a softsynth especially for this purpose...
