    Noise on Dual Athlon System

This idea is to use effective heatsink, in which case you can use slower and less noisy fan. Alpha is probably the best heatsink out there. I have single Athlon system and both of Panaflo fans (processor and case fan) produce less noise than PSU fan. Now I am asking you: what is the model of...

    Noise on Dual Athlon System

mastahnke, Consider a couple of efficient Alpha Pal heatsinks and a couple of quite and slow 80 mm Panaflo fans. Some people prefer Papst fans, but Panaflo is almost as quite and cost times less. Alpha Pal heatsinks are bolted directly to the mobo - make sure your board has holes around the...

    brand new to comp. recording

BR8 is kinda like a small standalone "studio" with quite a lot of virtual tracks. You can plug a guitar directly into it because it has builtin preamp. Therefore you should be able to plug a microphone as well. As far as I know on Roland website you can download wave converter software, which...

    dedicated drive for audio

Don't know about Mac, but in PC any 7200 prm, 8 mb buffer, IDE ATA 100 drive is more than sufficient for recording. I run three of those under Nuendo, and in 28 channel project hard drive indicator seldom shows any high activity at all.

    Best chipset/Proc for music production

Its a question of personal belief, really... I think the best you can do is to consult the vendor of your soundcard.

Audiophile Clicks and Pops while old game card doesn't. Please Help!

I haven't re-read the whole thread, so my appologies if that has already been discussed. Make sure you have set correct soundcard driver in Cakewalk. It should be M-Audio ASIO, not any other M-Audio of other Asio driver that you might have on your system. Just a thought.

Would this work to shield monitor speakers?

In order to shield the speakers you need to apply opposite maginetic field to the speakers' magnet. For example Yorkville sells magnetic shielding for their speakers as an option. It is simply a pair of pretty big magnet rings, which are supposed to be glued to the back of the drivers'...

    How would you spend $400

Just a thought: soundcards may come bundled with software. You might wanna check that before choosing the card. I remember that when I bought Audiophile several years ago it came together with Cubasis. I never used it, but it was not bad for the start.

    Audigy 2 review

Re: webstop...just...stop Wasn't it you, who made ridiculous statements like "thats the glorious thing about a computer...you have to pay 150 or so for a good standalone DVD player but only about 40-50 for a good DVD rom for your computer..."? You are right, your argument wagon is somewhere else.

    Audigy 2 review

DVD drive may cost you $50 or even less, but in reality all your rig becomes the DVD player, because all of its parts are working, even if idling. So now you are looking at 1000 - 1500 worth DVD player. Compare THAT to standalone $200 player.

    Benefit to go with 96k?

I recorder several songs twice at 24/44.1 and 24/96. Then I used Wavelab to convert songs to 16/44.1 and recorder everything on the same CD. The different was VERY audible through not-very-high-end Hi-fi. The difference was not just in frequencies. Songs recorded at 24/96 sounded much smoother...

Audiophile Clicks and Pops while old game card doesn't. Please Help!

quattro_xxph and J Wah, Do you have an AGP slot on the mobo? If yes, I would still suggest to borrow AGP card somwhere and test run it with onboard video completely disabled in BIOS. If you have nowhere to borrow the card, maybe you can buy one in a local comp store and then keep it if it...

    Sound cards and IRQ's

Just made this suggestion in a different thread: if you are using PCI videocard, change it AGP. Some videocards "pollute" PCI bus, which results in pop and clicks out of the soundcard. But before that try to increase the number and size of buffers for Delta and in your recording software.

Audiophile Clicks and Pops while old game card doesn't. Please Help!

Are you using PCI videocard by any chance? If yes, that is most likely a reason for your problem. Switch to AGP.
