How to restore a floppy disk?

For anyone interested, the problem was fixed by my friend with the help of BadCopy Pro. At first the program reported the diskette to be severely damaged and refused to restore it. But than it scaned it for files and recovered each and every one of them. Nothing was lost. So, I had all files...

How to restore a floppy disk?

A floppy disk with important information suddenly became being seen as unformatted. I don't think that it was accidentally demagnitized, most likely its FAT is corrupted, or something like that. How can I restore data from this disk? Norton Disk Doctor? Thanks.

    Question for NUENDO users

I can't asnwer all of your questions, but... In my box Nuendo happily works with Delta 1010.

    so I'm wondering...

You've answered your own question. Assuming that both of your drives are formated with FAT files system, remove a new drive from its computer and connect it to the empty connector on IDE cable of Windows 98 box. Make sure that jumpers on both drives are set in accordance with their master/slave...

does anyone know if you can burn a wav file to a cd and listen to it in any cd player

You can, but you recording software will convert wave files to cda (cd audio) format on the fly. So the files on your cd would not be wave files anymore.

Another vote for Sure Thing CD Labeler. I started using it when I needed a program capable of doing circular text, for example around central hole. It was good enough for me ever since.

DELL dumping the HD as a storage medium

Re: rom chips Yes, Bill would love that: you turn computer on and Microsoft Windows, Office, IIS, IE, Mediaplayer, Java, HTML etc. etc. is already there. And no hard disk to install competitor's software... Only floppy for data.

    new system question

It seems like you need to tweak some sound monitoring settings inside CEP. You hear no sound probably because no signal is set to be sent to out1/2 during recording.

    new system question

To answer your question: yes, you can run Delta under Windows 98. When you turn new box on, does the OS find "new hardware"? If it does, then the problem most likely with the drivers installation. If it doesn't, then the card is probably not sitting correctly.

In your shoes I would also try another RAM chip. Cheap noname RAM can be unstable at maximum specs. Or maybe you simply have an unlucky faulty stick. There is also quite informative exchange on all sorts of mobo problems, including AGP and 133/133 issues, at...

c9-2001, I run XP1800 at a nominal speed. Memory should not be an issue, unless you mix different brands. Initially I used PC133, then switched to DDR2100 - no problems. I've used Seasound SoloEX, Audiophile 2496 and currently - Delta1010 - no problems. In my setup anything that I don't need...

    Let's build a freakin FAQ!... Step 1...

How about adding a section of links to "must read" sites, like ProRec, and articles, like Windows 98/2000/xp optimization for audio, Izotope article on mastering and so on. People who are just starting have so much to buy. I think links to usable free software and plugins would be helpful too.

I have k7s5a mobo with XP1800 processor. Before I bought any videocard I used a standard PCI SVGA, which was very stable, but only good for system setup and basic applications. Next was SIS315 videocard which worked surprisingly well except for one thing: at high maginification in Nuendo...

!~ My new system for $350. Advice needed!~!!

40 gigs is not a lot. A project consisting of 16 tracks recorded at 24/88 may easily occupy 2 gigs and more. You may need to record several takes to work with, so double and triple that. Plus operating system, plus application software, plus virtual memory, plus backups ... 80 gigs - is a very...

    Software Controllers? (Like Steinberg's Houston).

A good place to check out comments on Houston would be Nuendo forum at http://www.steinberg.net/en/ps/products/media_production/ Some users were rather critical of this controller.

PENTIUM 4 or AMD ATHLON XP?

Since AMDs run hotter than Intels be ready to pay serious attention to good cooling, which in our case should also be QUITE. Also, AMD-approved PSU is a MUST. Overheating and unstable voltage are two frequent and underlooked reasons for instability of AMD box.
