I normally use warm water and eco-soap (I've got the feeling that eco-soap is less likely to remove the protective layer) to clean them. However I hardly found the need to clean them. My cymbals are 6 yrs old now an still look pretty new.
But this thread reminds me that they probably deserve...
Thanks guys. I've been very busy and this post slipped by. I already had an appointment for buying backdrop today, and suddenly remembered that I dropped the idea here. I'll cancel the appointment then. Shame though, Backdrop is a nice fabric to look at... I'll consider black cotton and take a...
Still looking for my acoustic treatment. I now progressed to the 'what fabric to use fase'. Is backdrop a good idea? Main reason to use it would be that is fire retardant.
I could also use burlap which is more ecofriendly, but burns easily and might have a too open weave to keep the rock/glass...
So you're saying that fiberglass can be used but needs to be so big to be a broadband absorber that it would hardly work in my small room.
A superchunk absorber uses a lot more rockwool for the same corner, is it worth the money? Or would using a 10cm thick plate in the corner do about the...
Thanks for your reply, it however confuses me a bit... JHBrand writes that the thicker the layer the less dense the material has got to be, also Gallagher writes that fiberglass has it's uses in the studio (he doesn't ever in his book talk about density of material, which surprised me).
Your...
Now I've let sink in all your advice and read Mitch Gallaghers' 'Acoustic Design for the Home Studio' ideas are getting more form. I've got some more questions, is it wise to ask them in this same topic or start a new one?
I have got some fluffy glass wool and read I can use this to make a...
I'm planning on recording a lot of stuf and saving pictures of the set-ups with the recording. All though I'm also considering to tell my guitar players to figure out how to place them for the sound they want, saves me a lot of time :D.
Thanks again for all the advice!
Hey Guys
I have this AKG C577 condenser lavalier microphone that is left over in my church when we replaced it with a wireless. I'm considering selling it, but haven't got a clue what it's worth. Online it is sold new for 400 Euro's. Now I'm wondering what is this microphone worth? And what...
Cool Threat, I love watching bands at work!
Yesterday I've seen the DVD that comes with Bill Laurance last album called Swift. On which they show footage of the recording process while you hear the album song by song. I've watched the version with audio commentary of Bill Laurance, Michael...
Not an expert on sequenced drums. I've listened to Test Milk and it sounds pretty decent. I would consider panning the ride a bit less. It sound unnaturally to the side. Also would you normally pan the ride to the left since it is on the left side of the listener? I would also go for a little...
Haha, thanks! How do you mean yes? Are they the perfect mic for electric guitar in general? Are they the perfect mic for what I want them to do? Or are they the perfect mic for what I want them to do with the money I have to spend on it?
The title says most of it. I'm investing in my studio, just bought a the TASCAM US-1800 will soon buy acoustic treatment and the end of my budget is closing in on me. I'd like to be able to record two electric guitars and my drumkit (with recorderman technique) while we are all playing in the...
I've seen that one and it gets reviewed as easy to read. Will that give me enough information to know what to do acoustically in my already existing room?
Perhaps in sound it is pretty much the same, and I do love a lot of the sample sounds. But in feel, timing and especially in the composition of the drums you need a real good sampler to call the two similar, imo.
Although drummers seem a bit of a dying race there are new bands coming up that...
Thanks! I'm mostly looking for strings and horns, since I sometimes imagine myself a real composer and try to write orchestral rock or a bit of filmscore. I have looked slightly realistic strings and such for free, but couldn't really find them... I just could Garageband for those things though...
I'd say that the biggest difference between real and MIDI drums is the way the drum parts are written. My biggest objection against MIDI drums is that most of the drum parts are immensely boring to play and to listen to especially when, as a drummer, the drum parts are a rhythm part of why I...
