Joe Jackson song - Bubba Po and NotThatBright collab.

Chalk another one up for liking the 3rd version the best. Question- what did you do to the drums to get this sound? I know you use a proper DAW, but these drums sound nothing like any drum sound I was ever able to produce. Did you use any compression on the snare, kick and/or overheads...

    whiskey river

Agree with this, but isn't country singing one of those vocal styles that if you don't sound like you're exaggerating and affecting some hayseed twang, you're not doing it right? I like very little country... one Waylon Jennings album and some Johnny Cash songs. I sure as hell like whiskey...

    "Hate Me" - partial test

Wow! You've got Rob Halford-range, but presumably without the homoerotic leather outfits. And you don't seem to have a problem growing hair. I can't tell if the guitars sound muffled or if they just need to be louder. In my opinion (which may not be one to be respected too much when it comes...

"Into The Void" cover WITH VOCALS

One of my favorite Sabbath songs. I would like it faster and heavier throughout, and crazier-sounding at the fast part. That's just me, though. Drums sounded kind of tepid. I know they're not real, but still. I know you love your new bass, but if you want to turn it up that loud, you need...

Mama Told Me Not To Come.....

I don't care for the original, but you do background vocals/harmonies so well that I at least enjoyed the chorus on yours. How do you get that snare sound? Is that what it sounds like when you play it live, or do you compress/EQ/whatever it a lot? And do you use two mics on the snare?

brownstone flows from her brown stone nose

Eh. This is weird, but your best stuff is weird AND disturbing. You had one that was so fucked up one time that I couldn't even bring myself to comment. I respect that.

    Drum overhead question?

I've bitched about this in the Tascam forums and seen other people with a similar problem... when I record drums on my DP-24 in 16-bit (8 tracks recording at once- one for each drum and two overheads), no problems. But when I do it in 24-bit, there are these loud snaps that come through every...

    Jesus made you white

I should send Jesus a bill for all the sunblock I've had to buy over the years. He seems like a deadbeat, though. I was wondering if this was going to be a hate rock song, a God song, or something else altogether. I don't care either way, I was just listening to the mix. To my untrained ears...

    Funk tune mixing feedback

Layman's opinion... I've seen people speak of "separation" on here, which from context I gather means being able to distinguish each instrument from the others in the mix. I think you've got that here. I could pick out every note of every instrument as well as everything done with the drums.

    My first mix, opinions please.

You can't hear that kick drum? Even if you don't hear the low end, you have to hear the attack- there's plenty of it. I heard both low end and attack with both my extremely bass-heavy amplified headphones as well as earbuds. In my layman's opinion, though, the bass guitar was a little...

    Rocky Racoon - Beatles Cover

I like the second one better with the centered vocals. I don't know the original, but are you sure this wouldn't sound better with just one vocal? Unless you want to do one of them a different way and hit some harmonies. Good voice, though. I like the dog barking in the background at the...

    A Tribute to Stalker

There's a game called "Stalker"? Is this an Austrian game? Are you guys heavily into stalking? If the premises of popular games are indicative of a country's culture, perhaps there's a game called "Wife Beater" currently in production here in the US. I would imagine this esoteric track...

    Devil music!

It doesn't sound right if the soft vocal is too loud. I didn't even know a lot of the lyrics to that part in the original because I could never hear them clearly. I believe much of the evilness comes from the contrast between the softness of the first part and the loudness of the chorus.

    Drum overhead question?

That's what I meant. Forgive me for the confusion.

    Drum overhead question?

It always means something bad, as it turns out. I was referring to the lights on the mixer that rise and fall for each track as the signal gets stronger and weaker. Mine are green until they hit 0 db, at which point they turn red. When I recorded drums, I would turn the signal strength knob...

THE ICE CREAMS / "It's So Strange"

I'll tell you one thing... if you name your band "The Ice Creams", I'm going to listen. If I ever find a band named "The Tacos" I'll buy their whole catalog before I ever hear a song. I don't have proper monitors, but I broke out the $30 Sony headphones that advertised themselves as "studio...

    Disco 2000 (Pulp Cover)

The only thing that sounded fake to me were the drums. Actually, they really didn't even sound fake to me, it's just that whenever someone uses something fake on here, it's always the drums. The bass definitely sounded real to me. Maybe I'm not the one to be giving mix comments... This is a...

    Devil music!

Thanks for the comments. The only thing I use compression on in what I would consider a somewhat significant quantity is the bass guitar, as I've found it's easier to hear that way. I use just a little on the overheads, the kick, the snare, the guitar and the vocal, and then when it's all done...

new song mix . advice and comments please!

This was just the thing I needed to hear after being immersed in evil the last hour or two. Fair warning that the "system" I listened to it on was a laptop and $40 computer speakers. Agreed that the vocal has too much bottom end, and also, to my taste, is a bit loud for the mix. Very nice...

    Devil music!

This is a cover of Danzig's "Left Hand Black", abridged to suit my attention span. I basically did part of the intro and then the three verses right in a row. In the spirit of all things evil, I used a lot of reverb on the vocal. The high part of the vocal in the chorus ("Challenge the...
