    Hyena cover (Rancid)

Yeah, that Quiet Riot thing... I could have at least done "Metal Health" or a song that I liked by them. I don't know what the heck I was thinking. I guess I wanted some variety. Oh well. Thanks. I think I might like the tone in the second one as well, but I might punch it up +1 or even +2...

NotThatBright records, Bubba po mixes. Armchair Martian cover version

It should be said that my timing with the drums was sloppy as hell even for me and Bubba did a great job fixing it, however it was done. Unfortunately there was wasn't much he could really do with the loose rolls and fills at the end of the verses. I really like the song and was going to do it...

The Misfits - Skulls - Hillbilly Version - Classic Horror Punk Butchery!

I know that. Just busting balls. I'll do one for you if it's something I know and know I can play like the Misfits, but I should be a last resort, as my drumming ain't great. Greg's drumming is the equivalent of the hot girl at the bar, while mine, though not terrible anymore, is closer to...

    Hyena cover (Rancid)

Tadpui's comment about the bass having no bottom end grew on me after a while. I recorded this again with a thicker bass track- the link is in the original post (3rd mix). If anyone would give an opinion on the 2nd mix vs the 3rd mix, I'd appreciate it. Only real difference should be the bass...

    Need lots of ears

See? That's what I'm talking about! Good to have you back, buddy. Now get off this queer sentimentality kick and post a song, for Christ's sake!

    Need lots of ears

My screen name refers to the cluelessness I have (though I've come a long way in 6 months or whatever it's been since I've been on here) when it comes to recording. I understood your joke. It wasn't your best material, but I would never consider anything off-limits to joke about, so don't...

The Misfits - Skulls - Hillbilly Version - Classic Horror Punk Butchery!

The core of my comment was that it could appear you were waiting for Greg to ask you if you wanted him to play the drums for you, thus the "junior high girl" comparison. I was just busting your balls, of course. Who knows, he might be happy to do it if you promised not to pervert his playing...

    Need lots of ears

You're welcome for that setup. I have an inherent respect for vets, myself. Though their true purpose for joining the military had nothing to do with making my life easier, what they've done collectively has done so. And it's impossible to know what each has been through, but odds are they've...

The Misfits - Skulls - Hillbilly Version - Classic Horror Punk Butchery!

For Christ's sake, Phil, you know he's a Misfits fan... just ask him. This is like watching a girl in junior high say to the guy, "Well, I'd like to go to the dance, but nobody's asked me... I have such a nice dress to wear, too..." Now that is entirely the wrong attitude to have. What...

    Need lots of ears

Well, I might have some left over from Christmas. Do you have a particular bent towards vets?

I'm not going to lie to you. I did that on purpose. :)

    Need lots of ears

C'mon, man. I know you can take a joke. I saw "need lots of ears" and I got an image in my head of one of those Vietnam movies where the soldier has gone a bit nutty and has resorted to making a necklace with ears. I'm supposed to keep that to myself?? I agree with the sentiment of your...

    Tom Petty cover - Steenamaroo

Not finished? What the heck else could you do to it? Not a big fan of the song itself, but great job. The punchy snare and kick give it some balls.

    Need lots of ears

Just a joke, my friend. You have to admit that one was pretty good! "Wise beyond your ears..." Hey... that one's not bad, either! You go dobro! :)

    Quiet RIOT!

Come on, we're far too clever for that. We're musicians! And impostor musicians! We can insult people with words! We impostor musicians call them "lyrics"! :) gregoryg My drums are in my basement, which is pretty big... I guess the sound isn't bouncing off anything and getting back to...

    "Snowblind" with NotThatBright on vocals

"ARE YOU ASKING ME OUT?" There has to be somebody here that will get that one.

    Need lots of ears

Need lots of ears, eh? You should've asked me back when I was in 'Nam, I used to make fuckin' necklac... Oh, you mean... Ah! I get it.

"Mama, I'm Coming Home" with RAMI on vocals

I bitched about how tricky his name was to spell once and he offered "Dog In Door" and something else I can't remember as acceptable nicknames. I chose "Dog In Door" because it seemed like one of those things that would get extremely annoying after a while.

    Skyscraper [Cover]

That "galloping" beat... yup, you can always tell the albums he played on... anything mid-tempo or faster was pretty much a variation of that beat. I actually prefer the other guys. I like a lot of hitting, and I'd say he's the most "minimalist" of their drummers, if that would mean that he...

The Witching Hour - Old school metal

Layman's opinion: Agree with Pinky on the hi-hat, though it's not too bad. The vocal is close to where I tend to like it in a mix, but is maybe buried just a little too much. Turn the bass down a smidgen and it might be perfect.
