    Dead vs Echoey?

While I found some of what you said a little confusing as I am not very familiar with all the jargon, I completely understand the concept. The funny thing is, before I asked this question, I was completely under the impression that recording rooms have to be completely dead. I don't really have...

Which software, which computer? Computer impaired, please help!!

The computer element is not as important as the Audio Interface component now days. Any pc that is pretty fast should be fine, especially for what you described. I would not recommend a mac at all, as you can get a pc with the equivalent specs for a much lower price. And in the recording world...

    Dead vs Echoey?

What exactly do flutter echoes sound like? My room originally had what seemed like a ring to it. That has been greatly reduced after the acoustic treatment. Thank you for all the help guys, without you, there would be many people far worse off in their hobby.

    Scarlett 2i2, instrument gain issues??

I have never found the lack of a mix or blend knob frustrating, however it depends on what your used to. If he is starting out with recording, and doesn't have much of a budget, I wouldnt consider it enough of a reason to return it.

    Scarlett 2i2, instrument gain issues??

Hi I have the 2i2. I absolutely adore it! There are gain control knobs on the front, and if you find the signal to be clipping, jsut turn it down. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this device. If you are using an acoustic guitar, going straight in should work fine. I have done it like that...

    Dead vs Echoey?

Ok I now have a much better idea of how these things work than before. Well, I suppose to some degree it is personal opinion. We used a room mic at my friends place and it sounded aweful. Like Bobbsy said, it has a huge reverb, almost like a cathedral. And I doubt recording drums in a cathedral...

Hello! I have something exciting for you; the people who love music.

This sounds great! I really like the concept. Becoming an artist on a record label often seems like such a surreal thing that can only happen to people that are very different to ourselves. I would find it very interesting to see how it actually happens. Goodluck!

    Dead vs Echoey?

thanks for that guys :) well, I consider his room to have a bad amount of reverb as it seems like you couldnt possibly get a recording that didnt have amounts of bleed coming through. We recorded drums at his place once, and they had large amounts of bleed. I completely understand what you are...

    Dead vs Echoey?

Hi I have worked very hard taking my little space I had and turning into the best acoustic space I could. It is pretty dead. I would say there is an air to it, but no reverb or echo per say. My friend, who is also into recording and has a larger space and much fancier equipment, is using a...

    real drums, real drummers

I have always drummed my own stuff on an electric kit. My band recently found an actual drummer and the last song we recorded had real drums with him playing. It makes the world of difference. I will never want to drum on our stuff again because he is better in every way. I do count myself...

A few songs I'd like harsh honest advise on

Sounds good to me. I would turn the guitar up a little, the voice seems just a bit to forwards. Not my style exactly, but I think its quite cool. The pitchiness of the vocals also suite the style. Not sure what advice you need, do you feel the song doesn't sound good enough?

    Chainsaw

Very cool, was it recorded or programmed? My single biggest problem would be that its an incredibly quiet mix. I had to really turn my monitors up to hear the song. Also, I personally feel there's a little depth lacking. Maybe a bit of a richer low end to the bass and kick? Am I right in...

Best source for acoustic drum samples

I'm not sure whether you are referring specifically to free samples, but I think EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer use great samples. Otherwise, See if you can record your own.

It's interesting to see what other people feel my music represents :thumbs up: I'm gonna hope that your awesome descriptive tale (which was kinda disturbing) was simultaneously a way of telling me the mix was ok :p

New track with my great new singer!

I'd boost the bass quite a lot. I can hear it, but i'd like to feel it a little, because it seems he whole song is a little shallow. By that I mean its like everything is sitting in the mid to high frequencies. Is the bass midi? theres one section where it comes in and everyhting else is quiet...
