24 Tracks Control Behringer-Buy or Sell? How can I simplify my workflow.

Y'know, I'm not real sure what to suggest. You have a rig a lotta guys would drool over. If you put it up for sale, more than a few might say, "wow, i wish i had the cash for that!" Could be. So it's possible that it would work great for SOMEone. Not me, though. I'm running many more...

Should I stick with my current setup??

Figured as much. Was mostly just messin' with ya. :-) I agree with the mic, if the internal changes don't bear fruit. P5

Do you really need that many tracks ??

Back when words like "Otari" and "Studer" were used, one might say words like "track count" were also used. 24 tracks - a somewhat arbitrary number - was a 2 inch tape that ran for, what? 23 minutes? Then another $100 reel of tape had to be purchased. More than 24? Then another machine had...

Do you really need that many tracks ??

Boom. Right there it is. I once looked at anything over 24 tracks as pretentious and silly. Today, I can scarcely remember the last project i did with less than 24 tracks. The hardware is there. It's easy. Use whatcha need to use. P5

Should I stick with my current setup??

Depending on your budget, you can add a lotta life to acoustic recordings with some good FX, most notably reverb. A very "natural" sounding acoustic recording is very often almost exactly what you're now doing, only then processed crazy deep with slap-back, reverb, compression, and a few...

    Digi 003 Setup-Computer has died.

Never yet seen a computer that was "too far gone". It's just a collection of parts and any and all of them can be replaced. My trouble is that I haven't found anything close to the MIDI suite I now enjoy. So I keep my vintage Macs alive for that. But I'm 'encroaching' with PC based stuff...

How does amp wattage affect DI out sound to DAW?

in a word, no. Amp wattage doesn't affect the DI. However, you're talking about several links in the chain. Tubes, transistors, impedance, coils, even cables. Those links can affect the sound. They've been pretty well described. But wattage having an effect on the DI proper? Not...

Looking for a Soundboard. Any Suggestions?

No such soundboard exists. The making of a 'professional' sound requires a number of different factors where the board is a link in a chain. Further, and just to fan some flames, there's a lot of cork-sniffing that goes with the "sound" of an analog soundboard. Some folks have the ability to...

Extra spiff. Gotta hunch you're not done with the DIY approach, either. I can hear your gears turning from here.

MIDI file FM playback recording question. Kinda a big deal.

Seems like we're mixing items, here. Midi is universal. Notes. Volume. etc. Plays across platforms and, except for Sysex info, responds pretty much the same way. Easy. If i understand it, XMI is hardware based. That is, you'd have to know the sound engine, be it Sega, Nintendo, etc. as...

question about a piece of equipment that I don't know what it's called

There's a bunch of these things that date back to the late 60s. Became popular in the mid-70s and added sophistication as electronics improved. In fact, you're simply paying for sophistication. Every old "home organ" out there has something like this built in. I recently saw a Kimball organ on...

Thw Waves installer is 160MB in size.

If you had a MacII with a 1G hard drive, yes, it'd be a bit big and might take over. Chances are, you have about 4Gig of RAM all by itself and probably the better part of a Terrabyte HD. So 160M is dinky. EQ

    Vintage DAT tapes

I have a Tascam DA-30 and a bunch of DAT. A bunch. Some play fine; some do not. But it does not matter. Because the FIRST thing I did was to transfer them via the digital output on the DAT deck. Well, okay, it wasn't the first thing. The first thing I did was to treat them like vinyl and...

    Which brand of resilient clips?

D'oh!! I read much more into that than I should have. With a mouthful of crow pie, let me explain what little i know. The clips in question are from a family of closely related suspension hardware. Some run on rails, which, upon a second look these do. Some hang from wires. Some...

    Which brand of resilient clips?

As I don't speak for the industry as you do, you may have to live in mystery about the origin of my advice. And as you admit, any move away from railing "due to installation errors" are also beyond my purview because I have it installed it correctly and can tell the difference. I will...

    Which brand of resilient clips?

I've mostly seen these used for hanging ceilings, but could possibly be used for either. There's some better ways of attaching sheetrock to studs, like acoustic rail, that provide far more robust isolation. After all, stuff bumps into walls more often than ceilings.:D

    Which brand of resilient clips?

You very often don't get what you pay for and i think this is one of those times. The 'premium' clip charges more, most probably, for certification and compliance (I do this for a living, BTW, so I might be biased.) Notice how the description lists UL approval, etc. The clip proper...
