Can Behringer's preamps produce Neve-like results?

Not bored perhaps, but definately stupid. How proud you must be.

    mic technique

If you cover the back of the grill with your raphand, you may be creating a omni pickup pattern. Not good on stage.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: what do you prefer in place of an sm57? If they're in another country, they were never intended as american jobs.

I did some research on the Mackie/Behringer lawsuit

Maybe this has already been mentioned, but since the Mackie 8 bus has adjustable Q for it's highmid EQ, and the Behringer does not, how the hell can the circuit boards be the same ?

    End The Battle!

Agree. In all comparisons between 2 different things, all other factors should remain the same. If you wanna compare recording mediums, it should be the same song and the same mix. The easiest way to do this would be to mix to 2 different mediums, DAT and reel to reel for example. Trackrat...

    End The Battle!

Also, if a CD sounds good or not depends on a lot more factors than the recording medium. You will still need good takes, and a good mix. So of course, an all digital album can have a much better overall sound.

    End The Battle!

Reel to reel does nothing for the sound if you don't record it in the red. Drive the tape between +3 and +8dB and you get a magnetic tapecompression that sounds great on bass guitar and drums. It doesn't have to be 2" either, although thats the ultimate size. Recording bass & drums on a simple...

If you HAD to use a Sure SM58...

If I HAD to use an SM58, I would. There's nothing to do to make it sound better than an SM58, since it is an SM58, so all to do it to use a good preamp and mic properly. Like with all mics. What was the question

    End The Battle!

Analog sounds better, in terms of "sound" as digital has none. Let's face it, why do we use 50 year old technology (tubes, opto etc) to make the digital sound better ?

    preamps with inputs on rear....

Or buy one... I got one in my preamp rack, but I can't remember the make and model right now. I think the name was Signex or something.

    8ch A/D-D/A, mic pres, ADAT, $249

The whole idea with buying separate A/D D/A is to improve the sound over the A/D D/A that you already have..... I guess this unit won't do much to improve nothing.

Good Pre amp for use with AKG 3000B..

The C3000 isn't a very good mic. With that being said, it works better when paired with a Joemeek. Also, it CAN be of good use if you really want something to cut through the mix. But all in all, I don't like it.

    Shure SM7.

    Compairing AKG 3000B to a Shure KSM44

The KSM44 is an excellent mic, but may or may not be the first choice for vocals. It's a damn versatile mic though. If you're ONLY gonna record vocals, you can do better for the money. But the KSM44 will still be good, and far beyond the C3000. The C3000 is crap.

Drum machines: How close can you get?

If you know how to play drums, you can get as close to the real deal as you want. It's a ratio between result and spent time.
