    Bought a HD24

The speed is far from optimal, but I don't mind it too much. I've recently recorded a project for a local singer, who wants to take the tracks home on CD-R to mix in (ouch) cubase, instead of going through my Soundtracs console. Anyway, at the end of each session, I ftp the track to my PC and...

    HD24 clicks on punch ins!

Did last night. The input normalling is nothing for me. My console can route any signal to any of its 24 outs, and sum at the same time. For example, I could plug a signal into channels 1, 6 and 17 and send ch6 to track 11 on the recorder, while sending a mixed signal of ch1 and ch17 to track...

    HD24 clicks on punch ins!

What input normalling ? Shit, that's the drawback from having a unit this easy to operate. I haven't read the manual yet.

I need a great snare mic with even greater isolation, and cheap enough to get beat on

Get a drummer with more accuracy. Or make him use 2x SM57 as sticks, that way you only need a kick mic and you got the whole kit covered. ;)

I'm a mic. addict. this is my dream mic list

For a realistic wish list (meaning i could afford it with a couple of years eating pasta), and assuming I had no mics today, mine would look like this: Neumann TLM103, KM183, KM184 BLUE Baby bottle Shure SM7, SM57 (3), SM81 (2), Beta 52 AKG D-112, C-414 (2), C4000 Sennheiser MD421 (2), MD441...

    What mics would you use?

Thanks for the suggestions. As I understand, the MK319 would be a darker than average sounding LDC, so I guess it will contrast nicely against my (bright) TLM103 ? I've had no experience with the MK319, but I'll check it out.

    HD24 clicks on punch ins!

They have a list price of 15.500 SEK, which converted to dollars would be about $1850. The dollar goes up and down but that's about the right price.

    HD24 clicks on punch ins!

I broke the virginity of my brand new HD24 yesterday, and recorded 13 tracks of rap vocals for a local artist. No problem whatsoever.

    Bought a HD24

Yes. But I must admit, I have not a good grip of which units that's out there, what's good and what's not. But any clock that's better than your internal clock would be an upgrade I guess, and a standalone masterclock should in most cases logically be one or more steps up. Which ones are...

    Baby Bottle BLUE Mic Questions

How can you change opinions on a mic you haven't heard yet ? Without phantom it's dead. And it's too new to show up on any garage sale for 15 dollars.

The clock is for upgrading the performance of the A/D D/A converters. Not syncing the tape transport together.

    Recording gigs with ECM8000s?

Tap a signal from the mixing console, as everything was plugged in as you said. Then use the ECM8000's for the crowd noise. Blend to taste, light a cigar.

    Bought a HD24

Blue Bear, if clocked from a remote unit, how much difference in sound would the HD24 produce ? Would it be noticable on one track, or not until you stacked up 8 or more ? What clock would you recommend as good value in price/perfomance, meaning that I can't afford the highest quality clocks...

    What mics would you use?

I thought I'd answer my own question too, and maybe you all could let me know if there is any mic that you think I really should add to my collection. 1. Male vocals - TLM103 / SM7 2. Female vocals - Never recorded it, yet 3. Acoustic guitar - 2x SM81 4. Guitar amp - SM57 / SM7 5. Guitar amp at...

What's up with the new JoeMeek line?

....and meanwhile, TFPro is selling off their green stock.

Wake up and get out of your collective fantasy worlds . . .

Guess you're just fooling around ? A speaker and a dynamic mic share a lot of things in their construction.

    What mics would you use?

I'm always looking at extending my microphone cabinet, and instead of asking this and that, which I can read by using the search function, I'd thought I'd ask the question in a different way. I'd like to know what mics you would use for the following applications, of the mics that you own. And...

Thanks Blue Bear, I think I already love it... :)

What does everbody use for a bass Pre amp?

All could work depending on the sound you're after, so try them all, but since the D-112 is intended for low frequencies I'd suggest you start with that.

    Bought a HD24

I had 2 XT's and 1 XT-20..... one of my XT's broke down (power supply), so I thought what the heck. I bought a HD24 to replace them all, and I am totally pleased. Highly recommended. Bought 2x80Gb drives too, so I got 2x 6.3 hours worth of recording to do. Woohoo. :) :) :)
