    First MP3.

Thanks for the great response. The snare was an issue even before we started recording. A piccolo snare would obvisouly be the better choice, but the band couldn't afford it. :( Track Rat: The horns are recorded through a Shure SM7, and I'm very satisfied with it's performance.

    outboard headphone AMPs

The 4700 has 12 outputs, and 4 channels . Each channel has 1 output on the front, and 2 on the back. You can drive 12 headphones without a problem, only thing to keep in mind is that you can "only" have 4 separate volume/eq setups. That shouldn't be a limitation. Have one, works great. /Stefan

    First MP3.

Thanks for the replies. No, the band does not have a website... I let them know you liked'em though. They've only been playing for a year or so, so I'm sure they'll appreciate that.

Is there any way to Mod a Boss pedal to have a volume drop/boost when engaged?

A volume drop would be very easy, a boost is no problem either, but requires a little more parts.

Recommend a Really Nice Compressor for me...

The Pro VLA is a truly underestimated unit. I find myself using it just about everytime I need to compress something while recording. Recommended. Other studio owners who visit my place is blown away by the sound. Seriously. If you got confidence in your ears and aren't too snobbish about what...

    First MP3.

Yes, the snare didn't sound anywhere near good. Actually, the sound on the mp3 is the snare sound from the overheads only, cause when closemiked it would bring out the snares hollow ringing sound even more. Not my kit. I'm about to invest in a good-sounding kit for my studio this year.

    First MP3.

This is the first mp3 I post. Listen to it and tell me what you think. I don't play anything on the song, I recorded and mixed it... for free I might add. :( http://www.strangeleaf.com/mp3/reggae.m3u

Joemeek VC1Qcs sounds great on bass guitar.

    Have Studio, What Now?

I wouldn't call that a studio, I would call that a homestudio. Difference being a studio needs rooms. Different ones, and all good sounding. A studio would need lots of headphones, headphone amps, a lot more mics, mic stands, cables etc etc etc. But if you're looking for something to beef up...

    The best compressor...

For versatility and quality, I would buy a Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor w/british mod. But I would more likely settle for a little more quantity over quality, since the EL8 is mono only. For $2000, I would prolly get a bunch of stereo drawmer, dbx and joemeek. Not as freaking good as a EL8...

Poll: What Mixer Do You Use?

That's a very good choice... sounds as clean as the Grace preamps.

Poll: What Mixer Do You Use?

Soundtracs Topaz 8-bus. Same as Harvey Gerst uses in Studio B, except I got the 24-channel version.

    Behringer tube ultrafex T1954

I haven't used it myself, but I heard they work great on drop-tuned distorted guitars.

can anyone refer me to a recordable sampler???

Yes, if it can't do sampling, it isn't a sampler. Maybe a sampleplayer at best. Check out AKAI, EMU, Roland.

What sampling rate do you use?

    24/48

Meek C2 or MC2? same unit?

The Pro VLA is a great sounding unit... I totally love it. The Meeks are good to, for other types of stuff. Get both, I did. ;)

    HD24 newbie

When you say "drag and drop", where shall I drop it ? On the "root" of the HD24 ?? The rest is all audio files. Should I do this while both drive's are out / the "holes" are empty ??

Damn.... I want that software upgrade... is there anyway to transfer it through the network connection, I don't have a midi interface in my computer.

Tape saturation in the digital domain?

"I'm looking for something that'll give me good analog tape saturation in the digital domain" If you by "good" mean "good", I'd say there are none. There are some hardware units that might work, such as the Empirical Labs Fatso Jr or the SPL Machine Head (discontinued). Magneto does an ok...
