Try closing the session (the bottom option on the second tab when you hit write). A number of consumer palyers don't recognize the disc unless it has been closed. Easy-CD does record in Redbook (auido) format

Round here, ASIO is the Australian Security and Intelligence Organisation. Kind of like the CIA only...smaller, with less money, power, people and things to do/protect. Call it the poor mans CIA.
Given the Echelon project (the global communications monitoring partnership b/w the US, UK...
Nilbog, go for it and do the mixing. It's a lot of fun (although it's also a lot of late nights/early mornings.) Shows you a whole different side to sound engineering, with all new problems to overcome.
I just re-read my first post, and decided that the first paragraph din't actually make a lot...
Nilbog,
Being a "tweak-freak" as Misterque put it is one of the things to watch out for. It's OK to tweak the EQ occasionally through the show, but try not to play with the volume too much, especially if there are foldbacks. If the vocalist has decent mic technique, you're in luck, cos they are...
I've got a DBX266XL, and it seems to do the job OK (granted my frame of reference isn't huge). The only drama I have seems to be the gating is very noisy. It's entirely possible that its all operator error, but it makes some nasty clicks when I compress guitars and basses. Still, I can't...
Yeah Cakey2, now you're rambling :D
Did I happen to mention BNC? Banana? F-Type? PL-259? Satellite? This could go on for days, and when we're all old and grey, from our rocking cahirs on the verandah, we can all reminisce(sp?) about the 'great plug thread of 2000'.

Yeah, but what actually is alternative? Perhaps Nirvana were back in 1990, but the genre 'alternative' is somewhat more blurry now. Is it actually a genre? Or just a way of saying "I'm trying to capture that lucrative 15-24 year old market"?
Was also uinder the impression that mainstream meant...
Sounds like what you want is a DI (Direct Injection) box or 2. Basically, you plug your guitar/bass into the DI box, and then the line out of the DI box into you soundcards line in. Viola!

Phono jacks are 1/4", and the term was used pretty widely (UK, USA and Oz) for a while. I've got manuals for ancient stereo gear that has phono jacks and a piccy of a 1/4" (and these are British manuals). I guess the Brits still call most audio jacks phono - just like a few lovely English people...
That desk sounds suspiciously like my desk - a Studiomaster Diamond 12-2 (it has the wiring diagrams for the XLR and 1/4" plugs just above the main faders?). Its a reasonable desk, but lack a lot of things I would like.
Basically James HE has nailed it. You don't have any channel inserts, so...
Gonna need some more info:
What kind of signal source is it (ie can you turn it up more?)
What kind of minidisc recorder? The Sony MDS series units have a recording level, whereas most portable minidisc don't - they just accept line level.
I record using a MZ-R55 (little portable Sony unit)...
I thought I'd just add a bit as to why it's OK.
The adapter can supply up to 1200mA (1.2A). The unit (POD or Art) will draw 700mA. As Long as the unit doesn't draw more than the power supply can handle you're OK. Just remeber that current is not pushed down the line (ie you're not forcing a...
I dunno exactly. VB is OK, VC++ crashes with an execption somewhere useful (love those hex memory references) when loading msdev.exe, Interdev (I've no idea why I installed it, and it's never worked) loads the splash screen up, then exits. Stupid bloody programs.
IE5 is pissing away memory like...
I'm not a happy little camper....
I just re-installed Visual Studio 6 Enterprise, in the vain hope of getting VC++ going, and the bloody thing still doesn't work.
It's looking like I'm going to have to do a complete rebuild, cos a lot of stuff is failing.
Damn. Not looking forward to it...
Were you using a partition manager like Partition Magic? If so, I think there is a rescue program you could try.
Otherwise, there is a program called DiskManager that often comes with the hard drives it self which is a low level formatting program. It WILL toast everything on the disk though...
You're right - copyright is implicit in a work as soon as it is created. The problem is that you've got to prove it, and that's where the registering of copyright comes in. It costs money (doesn't everything) to register your work with the appropriate agency, but that will give you much firmer...
Slack, seems you like this idea - you've done even more research than me.
I haven't had a chance to download the other stuff you mentioned, cos it's four days of public holidays here, and I'm crook as a dog, holed up at home, and I don't actually own a computer (at home anyway. Using my...
