I am recording an all acoustic album.
Is there a metronome that can accommodate different time signatures, other than the basic 4's? Maybe there's one on the net somewhere but I haven't looked. The ones that I've owned only had 4/4, 3/4 and so on, is there a universal metronome or something...
Do you think the SM57 would be better than the built-in mics? I'm going to be recording all acoustic, should I record in stereo or is mtr mode just as good?
As always you hear two sides to each, but which mic should I use, a condenser or a dynamic mic?
I am looking to record acoustic guitar and vocals and need a mic that can do both as good as it can for a cheap price, which leads me to believe that maybe the Shure SM57 would be a good choice, as...
The built-in mics are condenser mics, would a standalone condenser mic make a big difference, would it be enough for a professional sounding recording with the h4n?
Both mixing and recording, though I will also need to learn how to mix, something else I would like to do. What do you use for software? I heard Reaper would be a good cost-effective choice, though I'm not sure of the difference between any of them.
First of all, recording to a metronome and playing along with one is awful. Is it possible to record without one if you don't have a drummer or drum-track around? Either way when recording, how do you not get the clicking to not show up on your recording? When I use my headphones for the click...
Isn't the frequency of a professional recording 44.1khz? I think the h4n records at that.
It was suggested to me that the built-in mics would be used for a lo-fi sound, so not recommendable for a professional sound, whereas if you used a condenser mic then it would make a world of difference...
I am looking to record with the zoom h4n. I need to get a microphone, and recording software as well, and am basically clueless as to what to do. I've been playing for years and am capable but when it comes to recording I seem to hit a brick wall. I am on a tight budget and would just like to...
What about using the built-in mics? Would they be sufficient and should I use the cushion to cover it when I do? What difference does the microphone cushion make when recording, if any?
Just starting to try and use this thing, I've heard a fair bit about how you can make a professional...
