i was thinking about trying out the mullard re-issues from gt. i think i can get them from gc, which is important to me because i'm in the middle of a session, and i need to fix this issue asap.
i was hoping it was preamp tubes. it still has the stock tubes in it...and the amp is about 5 years old. preamp tubes can just be popped in, right?
thanks so much for the advice.
my fender hot rod deluxe 112 is acting strangely. the volume seems to be fluctuating on its own. it's not really drastic, but it's obvious. the level quickly jumps up and down...i've tried many different guitars and many different cables, bypassing all of my pedals...so it's definitely the amp...
hello. i have an oktava mkl-2500 without a power supply. does anyone know where i can get one? (i also have a mxl v69me...is its power supply compatible? i doubt it, eh?)
thanks.
hello. last weekend i was doing some snare drum tests, and i thought that the mxl v67g sounded better on my snare than the sm57 (about 2" away, over the rim, pointed toward the center)...is it all that uncommon to use a LD on the snare? is there any chance of damaging the mic because of the high...
hello. i have two 603s, a mxl-67 (green), and a mxl-67 (black). right now i'm not in the position to try them out, so i'm just wondering...which do you think would be better as drum overheads (pair of 603s or pair of 67s)?
please keep in mind that i usually like to get most of the drum sound...
hello. i'm using motu's audiodesk, and i like it just fine. eventually, i plan on upgrading to dp, but for now audiodesk is doing just fine. but audiodesk does not have a graphic eq...what's up with that? there is a parametric eq, and bunch of other things, but no graphic eq. could i just get a...
hello. guided by voices' isolation drills (to my ears) is an incredible sounding record. especially the drum sounds. does anyone out there know anything about the production of this record? any information would be appreciated.
thanks,
jon.
hello. tired of having a bunch of mono-57-on-the-grill tracks, and then panning them all over to get a full sound. i'm just wondering if everyone could chime in with their favorite method of stereo mic'ing a guitar amp to get a fuller, liver, bigger sound...
thanks for your input.
hello. has anyone tried the new samson rubicon monitors (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rubicon6a/)? if anyone has tried them, how do they hold up to other monitors in the $500 price range (event tr8, krk rokits, etc)?
(thanks for the replies)

what temp is that? i imagine it depends...eh?
well, right now i have the room control room resting around 55 degrees (here in nh, it's been as cold as 18 at night already). but when it gets that cold, it takes a lot of work for the room to stay at 55...i was wondering if there is any damage in letting the control room drop below 55. the...
hello. i am building a studio in the loft space of a three car garage (new hampshire). it's got a gas heater that is capable of heating the entire thing (three rooms) pretty good, but i don't want to run the thing while i'm not in it...it's too expensive. i've decided to just heat the control...
hello. i just built xlr patchbays in the walls of my control room and performance room in order to get xlr cable though the wall. i took one of these: http://www.milestek.com/shop/product.asp?id=50%2026004%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&cid=574&kwd=MAVPBSM&l=550&p=Audio+%26+Video, snipped...
hello. i used to use a pair of event tr-5ns for a while, and i liked them. i sold them to upgrade to the tr-6ns or tr-8ns, but i've been reading good things about the YSM1p. i am not able to test the yorkvilles myself, so i'm asking anyone if they can compare them for me. thanks.
hello. could i send a headphone signal through a wall like this:
headphone out -> neutrik combo xlr/trs connector -> through the wall with xlr cable -> neutrik combo xlr/trs connector -> headphones
i'm just unsure about connecting the combo jacks with ordinary xlr cable (cut the ends off a mic...
