i have a d112 on a kick with an emad head, and a very small pillow at the bottom, to get rid or excess ring. but, when i pput in the akg, its really boomy. are there any mic positions that you would recommend, to avoid this? or should we just put in more deadening? any mic positions tips to try...

i have an mxl v67g that i may want to experiment with on the kick...last time i had the drum head off with a 57 like an inch away from the beater and it was awesome...this time the resonant head is still on i put a 57 through the hole and may want to put the 67 back few feet with a pop filter...
i have a tom delonge strat....the white line coming from the input jack wasnt saudered to anything....i saudered it to the volume pot, seeing is thats where the black line from the input jack was....maybe i just did a crappy saudering job??? does this sound right to get my guitar back? thanks guys
