    Further Clarification

A midi file isn't linked to a specific instrument. You allways need to assign the midi file to the instrument of your choice.

Import Midi File- New to Cubasis

A midi file only triggers notes. You have to assign a virtual instrument to the midi file.

    Nady monitors

I can't seem to find the Yorkvilles over here in Belgium. I think I'll go for the Yamaha MP5's or the Event tr5's. These cost twice as much as those Nady's do, but I guess you get what you pay for...

Has anyone ever heard (of) Nady audio sm250a monitors? The guitar center offers them for 300,- a pair. "The SM250A is an active, full-range, 2-way studio monitor speaker with 6 1/2" shielded woofer, 1" Ferro fluid-cooled, soft-dome shielded tweeter and built-in 100W bi-amped power. This model...

My first attempt at mixing EVER! Please listen and critique...

Nice going! Especially for a first attempt. You should bring up the volume and start eq'ing though. The intro is a little long or should build up more. Some transitions are a little harsh too. Other then that a very good job. I like the music. Keep it up.

    midi to audio?

Nothing gets recorded except for the control information that 'triggers' the virtual instrument. That's why you have to export it as a wav-file and then import it again if you want to treat it like audio.

real drums played like crap still better than a machine on my tracks

    1. I think everyone here agrees that nothing can top real drums on music, if they're played well. 2. The reason people depend on programming often is that thay don't have access to real drums or simply can't afford them, or don't know how to play them. 3. If that so called music sounds way...

want to record on computer, what do i need?

What is your budget? Will you be recording direct or do you want to mike the amps of your band? How many tracks will you need? ... You'll need: - a decent soundcard - recording software - a preamp - mics and cables You're gonna have to narrow your question down... :)

    Yes you can.

    Need monitors, and mixing explanation

Yes, but that will require you to get to know how much and in what way these speakers color the sound. The only way to learn that is by trial and error and by comparing your mixes on different systems. By the time you truly know how to mix with them you'll probably have saved up enough money to...

Selecting a wave editor in SX

No external editor can be opened within SX. It was taken out because it would break the undo history.

real drums played like crap still better than a machine on my tracks

Re: Re: I disagree I'm afraid there is not. But you'll be able to learn it without a manual. Once you got started you can always come here for tips and tricks or for where to look for some decent samples. There are actually one or two tutorials out there but they mostly deal with the...

    No cover this time!

I've posted more then one cover in the clinic but never my own work, so I guess there's a first time for everything. I recorded this song over a year ago but I only finished it now. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out although I think I'll have to retrack some of the vocals. 'Time for...

    "Twenty"

As far as songwriting goes I have to say this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in the clinic. Everything sounds great and mix is very good IMO, as are the vocals. Gonna check your other stuff out right now...!

need to upgrade soundcard for MIDI

No other card can in that price range compete to the audiophile 2496. It's definitely worth bying. ...funny how we consider a 2 year old piece of equipment to be old in this digital age.. :)

    POD or mic an amp?

If that’s what you’re after a POD would definetly be worth its value. You can certainly record decent guitar sounds with it. In fact in many cases you can’t even tell the difference between a miked amp or an amp modeller IMHO. You might also want to check out the V-amp 2, which is considered to...

    computer based recording

First of, if you had limited succes with finding info on this board, you might want to look a little harder, there's a lot out there.. Anyways, it sounds to me that you need a decent soundcard (audiophile 2496?) and some recording software to get going.
