I gotta agree with Bob. And Greg sees the point. Grim, why ask these introspective questions and give Barry a place to rant? ;)
Actually, as a kid I attended an old fashioned country church that on occasion was visited by an old man that asked to sing his favorite hymn. His...
I really don't have much experience writing songs but have been a "critic" for my lifetime. I realized I could pick out a quality song when I would listen to a new album and find B side songs written by great song writers regulardless of the artist or performance. I 'm not sure of what is...
I play bass and always like what I hear when I play it. :thumbs up: Actually my real problem is playing all those other instruments properly. And as an afterthought, you never appreciate the bass until
it's missing!
Hey jimmy. Need some advice. Forget the cans/monitors thing.... There's this hot chick lives down the street. Should I ask her out or wait till she finds out I'm a "producah"?
Well, once again you guys show you all understand theory plus actual real world situations. That's what makes this forum so useful. And again you can get into a "pissin" match over about anything. That's what makes this forum so much fun. Just an observation.....
Lovin it
Mo and Ethan, I appreciate both viewpoints and respect both opinions. Obviously I don't have enough experience from either side to give an opinion but really learn a lot fr om the discussions. Actually, and I think Greg will agree, the equipment and experience all just contribute to...
I seem to remember John Lennon considered hanging by his feet and swinging around a mike to get a surround/panned type sound. Don't remember if he actually did it but the Beatles were quite the innovators. Who knows, we may all be soon watching the classifieds for a BMW/preamp/ribbon mic...
Great song Rami! I never heard this song so not much to compare to till I heard the original. I think you nailed it for a cover. The small differences remind me of hearing the differences in some bands studio vs live recordings. Depending on the song, miles on the tour and variations due to the...
I don't have much experience with guitar but used to really push my Kustom transistor bass amp way back in the late 70s. It would heat up and fuzz out like a big Muff but I got a lot of speaker farts too. I couldn't fill our venues and it finally started breaking up at lower volumes so I traded...

In laid back East TN we slow things down just a bit. DAW is pronounced with several A's if pronounced at all. Daaaaawwuuuu would work. We also turn those knobs over yonder jest a litl bit.
I believe my bass strings are over thirty years old! Fender nylon wrapped, flat wound on a 30" scale '70s Les Paul recording bass with low impediance pickups . They sound great for a live Motown sound but havent been used much since Disco was the bomb.
Welcome back
Welcome back from the dead, John. (The rumor was that Paul was dead!). You should have some inspiration for some great goth, death metal lyrics. Then again, no one can understand the screams lyrics anyway!
Seriously,my inspiration comes from observation of any of my...
Didn't follow the whole post so this might have been mentioned. Freesound.org has tons of sounds and people like to explain how they got them too. Give them a look.
I almost forgot. I picked up a Hondo Les Paul copy with a bolt on neck that sounds and plays great. Rivals any Gibson I could afford and really outshines an Epi. $50 bucks! You probably need a little experience to keep from getting burned. Pawn shops think everything is vintage gold. I watch...
My current cheap choice
Go to guitarfetish.com. Those xaviers are pretty nice and can be tweeked if needed. Get a blem to save a few bucks. My blems are hard to find!
Hung my Epiphone AlleyKat on the wall for instant access and first winter had to file the fret edges to keep from slicing the old fretting hand! Lesson learned...
I like the vocals in the bridge. Kinda completes the song for me. If you really want to emphasize the parody you might do an "almost' exact copy of the theramin line. Just a thought.

Great discussion...
I just wanted to comment on the stereo guitar amp. I have a line six Duoverb that splits or combines two different amps. The live combination makes a big difference even if the speakers are within inches of each other. Same for my live bass rig with a modern 2x15 cab and a...
