I forgot to mention I have stubby short fingers and I have always played short scale (30"). Supposedly guitar players like the fret spacing better. My best is a '72 Gibson Les Paul Recording bass but I started on a $30 Woolworths Precision copy. Copy is being polite but I was young...
Liked "Acoustic"amp
I used an Acoustic bass amp (150 head & 2x15 cab) for 15 years in a cover band doing DISCO! and top ten covers with a brass section. It delivered everything I asked of it and that was a lot. Solid state, it still could get a good tone. I still preferred a borrowed Sun amp...
Good post!
This has been an interesting post (with a few babble/snipes). Thanks to our new friend to the south.
I was recently surprised at the clarity and hidden musical gems listening through my Radio Shack wireless headphones to Pandora. They are decent sounding and are great for doing...
I seemed to remember your other tracks having a little more airiness to them so I went to your site to compare. It really depends on the song (Drive Me Mad sounds real close) but this one really rocks. You sometimes have different sounds on the guitars that "lightens" the feel of the song. I...
I just hit the big 60 and really want to start back into music. After 15 yrs in my earlier days life happened with a good secure job, wife and 7 kids plus lots of other adventures. That mistress still tugged at me and I ocassionally gave in. (moved the home studio several times, almost...
My 2 cents...
For my two cents ... I use a Behringer 2000 patch bay and Behringer MINI MON MON800 Ultra-Compact Stereo Monitor Matrix Mixer for the best of both worlds. I run my keyboards, bass and several synth modules through a 16 ch rackmount line mixer into one of the source inputs in the...
I really liked this. When it started I was anticipating the vocal and Rami delivered. As good as any cover could be. It was so much fun to listen to I couldn't critique if I wanted to. Great job!
Cabinet tip
Just an aside tip if you try one of these boxes. I use a Kreg pocket hole jig for my cabinet work. Makes my boxes look better and I can usually assemble them by my lonesome. A little wood glue and no clamps needed. It made my homemade cajon bulletproof for even the heavest drummer!
Heat, you take the suggestions well. I like the tune and haven't really studied it yet. At first listen I felt the lead vocal was a little lackluster. The extra vocal seemed to be a better range for adding a little energy. But hey, what do I know? Lyrics are interesting and the performance is ok...
Hi guys. Late to the party but I want in! I've got an old wiener dog that has survived a bad attack on a truck. The family will part with me first and I swear that dog communicated his wants better than 90 percent of the people I know. My fav cat was a stray calico that watched our tom cats from...
Some good ideas. I may have to start a parents group to raise funds to try a fix. I could go for the DYI on the acoustic panels. I did my own in my home studio and they worked out pretty good after doing my homework ( thanks Ethan Winer). I'll have to use my charms. Those admin types like...
After reading the recent post about problems with high school musical productions I thought I might pose a simular question. I am am a veteran of the school sock hop circuit many, many years ago. About the only sound treatment was "loud and proud". Now as I attend my kid's assemblies, dances...
Oh, I forgot. Good to see so many new members reply. And Grim, keep up with the good questions. Makes me want to think. I heard it prevents "old timers" disease...
Basically a bass player and singer for 45 years give or take some lean years (playing, not me!). Never practiced beyond prepping for or performance. All the other instruments I play are poorly performed because any practice is just fooling around for funzies. Close to retirement so maybe .......
