Here is our latest little ditty, called "Life of a Butterfly" At mp3.com At mp3.com.au The song is either about how your gray "larvae" self during the week beomes a beautiful "butterfly" on the weekend. OR it is a song about a closet transvestite. You never really know ;) Comments...

A mix of 56 audio tracks from 22 different people... ouch :)

I dont recall the exact count but at least 2/3rds of the tracks were vocals. (This was done in October last year) I did a heroic bit of editing to try to rescue the choruses bit, mostly editing out the "s" and "t" on some singers so we wouldn't get a machine-gun of consonants at the end of a...

A mix of 56 audio tracks from 22 different people... ouch :)

The mix has some known problems, notably "tighness" (lack thereoff, more like it) between the singers... but when they all sang in various locations around the world it was not so easy .... /Z

    Collaborations, a discussion on logistics

I don't know... and actually if I recall correctly it's the process of *decoding* it which introduces the delay... or somesuch... uh.... I dont know for sure... its different between decoders e.t.c. I only know that EVERY mp3 I *ever* received and just plunked into SONAR I had to slide a bit to...

A mix of 56 audio tracks from 22 different people... ouch :)

I would love some comments on this www.mp3charity.com - the topmost song "Take My Hand (a better world)" Its probably the biggest online collab ever, 22 participants from 9 countries. It had 56 audio tracks recorded from anything from a studio to a laptop mic. It's probably not the best...

    Collaborations, a discussion on logistics

A note: Creating a MP3 file in most encoders creates a 786 sample delay... so recording a click, a beep, whatever, that everyone includes in their file is a GOOD idea. For the massive www.mp3charity.com collaboration we did, we had a version of the backing w. a click intro to the piano. I told...

    Collaborations, a discussion on logistics

22 ppl collab... ouch... :-) I made a fairly big collaboration.... 22 participants... 56 audio tracks in all... all sent to me as mp3 files.... some had been on casette... some recorded w. a cheap computer mike. All "final mixed" by myself. Judge for yourself over at www.mp3Charity.com wherre...

What the Hissssss is going on?

It really depends on the spectral content of the recording vs. the spectral content of the noise. I have removed hum from vocals with *no* side effects. I've removed hum, hiss, and computer fan noise from vocals w. slight sound effects in the low level sounds (breath noises and such, stuff...

    Hear My Boy-Band Effort...!

I *hated* that "bass" sound. Swap that out (since its obviously played on some form of keyboard/synth thing) to something else. BG vox needs a slight bit of wetting, a bit too dry. As said before, a few pitch issues. But that Bass takes it all... a muddy ugly... outta time, undiscinct.... an...

What the Hissssss is going on?

CoolEdit. Dig up the OLD ONE, Cool Edit 96. Then start it, load your track. Find a section of ONLY HISS. Select it. go to Transform->Filtering->Nosie Reduction Pick "Get noise profile from selection" Hit "Close" Select the ENTIRE track go to Transform->Filtering->Noise Reduction Pick...

    A trance song

Hmm, sounded a bit too "major key"-ish for me.... trance needs a "tougher" more minor-key-sound. As for the mix... sounds kinda flat somehow... but I do like the reverb used, nice and spacious. It something w. that kickdrum though, which isn't quite kicking me the way I want to be kicked :) I...

all that i need is two minutes...of your time

Whoah, what a FUN SONG :D :D :D *giggle* As for the *song* - dont touch a thing. As for the mix: - hit the lead vox w. compression, its wavering around in level too much. - way too low lead vox - WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to low drums ... smack 'em down w. compression to get a big phatass crunchy...
