Cool, thanks T-Bone! I'll post your comments from that thread here too, for search purposes, so that if anyone needs this thread in the future all the info will be here for them. Here goes:
Are you talking about Samson, with an "o?" They're Sam Ash's product. www.samash.com I don't know much about them other than that their products are very well-priced! Their C01 large diaphragm condenser is popular, but probably more because of it's price ($50 new!) than it's quality.
Re: posting is fun
Dmbfrk, I just listened to the 3 tracks from your CD and I love 'em! I can't get those tunes out of my head! I'm amazed that you did that all in your dorm room!
I'm actually recording right now in my little 1br apartment. So I was wondering if you had any tips, or could...
Thanks Dr.! Why do you like the enhancer on the Autocom? What's it good for in your studio?
Also, does anyone else have one of these units and want to give me some more feedback on 'em? Thanks! :)
Holy sh$#! You're unbelievable Harvey!!! Thanks so much!!! (not just for the fast service, but for everything you do for us here at this board!) :D :D :D
Re: Thanks
I'd say go to your local Guitar Center NOW with a printout of the thread about the DMP3 in the Rack equipment forum. The M-audio DMP-3 is one of the best transparent pre's under $500, and right now you can get one for just $119!!! It's a no-brainer at that price!
For cables, I...
T-Bone, do you mind if I ask how like the two Behringer compressors? I've been contemplating Composer Pro XL vs Composer vs Autotom Pro XL etc. recently, so any feedback about them would be helpful. Thanks! :)
There's actually a used MR-8 up for sale right now, on this board: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=89388
These units are great for beginners like you and I! The big downside is the lack of a hard drive; it uses compact flash cards and comes with a 128mb card (WAY bigger...
This is what I noticed has been happening for quite some time with the Oktava 219's at GC. They were advertising the sale price at $49 during the big Memorial Day blowout sale, meaning you could get them even cheaper than that! I read somewhere on this board that someone got 3 of them for $29...
Yup, the pictured mic is definitely a v69, "mogami edition" mic (which is the only version of the v69 I'm aware of; maybe MXL used to make a different one, but I've never heard of it).
What currency is that? What's it convert to in US dollars? And what does this "pack" come with? Is it just...
I don't know much about the specifics, but in general when you make a CD that can play in your standard CD player you're burning .wav files. They're so large because they're not compressed like .mp3's. Basically .mp3 compression was developed to significantly reduce the size of CD-quality...
Jeroth, I just started out not too long ago as well. I THOUGHT I'd need a mixer, but for starting out just doing guitar and vocals, you really don't need it. You could always add it later, but for now it's probably better to spend money on other gear, to get the best result you can right now...
The v69 is a LD tube condenser, and I'd be amazed if you could get two for $130! Did you really mean v69 or were you talking about the v67?
The v67g is identical to other v67 models (i.e. v67b), but looks prettier. It's a damn sweet-sounding vocal mic. Not the most versatile mic in the...
