MXL 603s match pair for $155

If anyone's looking for a factory matched stereo pair of 603s I know where to find one for about $155, shipped. As far as I know this is the last one in stock. It's the matched pair like they have at 8thstreet.com, complete with two shockmounts and a metal case! PS: I'm not the one selling...

What mic used on Norah Jones?

I know you guys are talking about the recording, but I thought you'd be interested to know this. I saw Norah Jones live in Cary, North Carolina last night, and I'm pretty sure she was using this Neumann: http://www.neumann.com/infopool/mics/produkte.php?ProdID=kms105 And DAMN, she sounds...

    Compressor shopping

Any particular reason why you're not thinking about one of the Behringers? With the new Pro XL models coming out now, you could get an older Autocom Pro or Composer Pro brand new for $70 or $90 respectively. You can get them even cheaper on eBay. I'm also in the same boat as you, looking for...

J Station USB to MIDI cable?

    Here's another $39 option I just found: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=030617092452152016003200788821/g=rec/search/detail/base_id/100498

    J-station noise

Just out of curiosity, are you using the factory-included power supply? I ask because I traded some old amps for a used J-Station at Guitar Center, and they didn't have the power supply, so they gave me a different one, that doesn't exactly match the voltage and amperage ratings of the...

J Station USB to MIDI cable?

Does anyone know if this M-Audio USB to MIDI cable would work with the J Station/J-Edit, using Windows XP Professional? Has anyone used a similar USB to MIDI cable with the J-Station? http://www.music123.com/item/?itemno=85139 It's the cheapest USB to MIDI interface I've found, at $39. The...

your first condenser, how did it feel?

My first condenser was and is the v67g, since I just got it only a few weeks ago. :D And man oh man, when I powered up my DMP-3 and my little recorder, put on my headphones and belted out one of my favorite tunes, I was blown away! It made my SM-58 sound like a fisher price kids toy...

    Condenser Mics and the MR8

If you can get that $119 deal on the M-Audio DMP-3 at Guitar Center I'd say go there NOW and pick one up! Check out the threads about how to get this price in the "Rack" forum. I use a DMP-3 and can assure you that it's unbelievable for the price. I'm also using an MR-8. With the remaining...

If you're looking for an MR 8

8thstreet.com also seems to have 'em in stock, for $295, with a free pair of Behringer HPM1000 headphones, and free shipping on orders over $229! Not a bad deal!

    "Quad" cables

True, but perhaps what $5 here and there adds up to in the end is a higher quality recording! Maybe one cable won't make a difference, but if you spend a little extra on each piece of gear, it surely pays off in the long run! (assuming you know how to use it ;) )

    Cheap mic for Home Recording...

Exactly what mikeh said! If you don't buy either a pre or a phantom power box you won't be able to use any of these, other than the SM-58! Take it from one newbie to another, you WON'T be happy with just the SM-58 just running into your sound card's mic input. You'll be like, "Damn, I sound...

B1 versus V67 handling noise tests

Re: Re: UPDATE! No no no, look at the date of those posts above...it's 2002. This was almost exactly a year ago that people had this problem. I'm sure the faulty mics are long gone by now.

B1 versus V67 handling noise tests

Re: Re: B1 versus V67 handling noise tests This all happened about a year ago right? So I'm figuring the "new shipment" has definitely gone out by now. But I'd be worried about buying a B1 off eBay or from anyone who's not an official dealer...maybe those sellers got their hands on a bunch...

    Cheap mic for Home Recording...

Yup, any card with a "mic" input has a pre-amp of sorts, although surely a bad one. You won't get anything decent out of a pre like that.

    Cheap mic for Home Recording...

oh yeah, so I didn't actually suggest a mic! Brain fart! So, if you're really trying to go cheap, you could get an inexpensive condenser like this one, the Samson C01 Condenser Mic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2537848927&category=41466 I've heard it's pretty good for...

    Cheap mic for Home Recording...

I wouldn't get the Behringer B-1. Honestly, I haven't heard a good thing about it...and much better mics can be gotten for the same amount of money! Technically you could just get an SM-58 and use the crappy pre-amp that's built into the sound card on your PC, using the "mic" jack with a...

    "Quad" cables

I think "minimal me" was referrring to the difference between regular mic cables (XLR to XLR, not the XLR to TRS one in the musicians friend link above) and mic cables that are designated "quad" by Mogami. My understanding is that all XLR cables are inherently balanced, so to say balanced XLR...

    Ok, I Need Help...badly!!!!!

I'd say go to Guitar Center ASAP and try to get the $119 deal on a DMP3 like others have done in the past few days (check the "Rack" forum for the posts about it). You can also get an Oktava MC-012 SD condenser for $75 at GC right now. I don't know if you need an SD, but at that price it's a...
