    I can ask anything?

Yeah, you really need a decent pre-amp to get the really good stuff out of an SM-57 or 58. I noticed a HUGE difference when I added an M-Audio DMP3 to my signal chain...it made my SM-58 sound so much better! Check out the threads in the "Rack" forum about getting a DMP-3 at Guitar Center for...

    1GB CF Card, $190!!!

I have a feeling this card probably doesn't work with the MR-8, but since it's such a great deal for a 1GB card I thought I'd post it here, just in case: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10318746&loc=16252 It's a SanDisk 1GB CF card. I don't know anything about the specs. I think...

Wat Mic Is Best For Acoustic Guitar>> Under 100 ?

I'd say go with the Marshall (MXL) 603s small diaphragm condenser. You can find one new for around $70-$80. Others would tell you to get an Oktava MC-012. However, they're generally a little more money, not as flattering for acoustic guitar, and arguably subject to poor quality control, so...

    MAudio BX5's....

oh yeah...also, does anyone actually own a pair of the Samson Resolv monitors??? I'd love to hear someone's A/B experiences. The Resolv 50a is a bi-amplified pair for $219 at Samash.com or music123.com. And the Resolv 65a is a similar but bigger pair for $299. They're nice in that they're...

    MAudio BX5's....

I'd love to see that review echomancer. I looked everywhere and couldn't find it either :( I'd also be interested to see how the SP-5B's or the BX-5's stack up against the Event TR-5's. I haven't been able to find a decent TR-5 review at all actually! Here's an old SP-5B vs. TR-5 thread, but...

    MAudio BX5's....

has anyone A/B'd the SP-5B's vs. the BX-5's? Other than the more "aerodynamic" styling and the switches on the back, I'd like to know how different they really are.

anyone had experience with Marshall mic's

I have a v67g and in my opinion it's amazing on male vocals! It's not a great match with some voice types though, although I haven't used it on enough different ones to be able to give you specifics. What application are you looking into the LD condensers for?

    MAudio BX5's....

how in the world did you get the BX-5's for $199???! I've seen the old SP-5B's for that price, since they've been discontinued, but never the BX-5 that cheap!

Best vocal mic for under $200?

Depending on the voice, the MXL v67g might be the one for you, and it's only $100, or less! ;)

    Monitors question

I'm pretty sure Edirol is Roland...or same owners or something. Those monitors sell for somewhere between $120 and $140 from what I've seen. I haven't heard much about them though. But any monitors are better than headphones for mixing! If you don't want to shell out another $80 or more to...

    MR-8 Volume Help

Important addendum...the master fader DOES control recording level when you're BOUNCING tracks (see page 44-45), but NOT when you're just recording through the inputs.

    MR-8 Volume Help

Gospel, it's true, I promise :) I don't know if there are different manual versions, but on the .pdf version on the web it's in a little box that says "<Note>" at the top left of page 32.

Just bought a matched set of mxl 603's

Wannaplay, will you be recording vocals too? If so, you probably should get a large diaphragm condenser first, like the B1 or the v67, before you get a pair of pencil condensors. They actually do relatively well on acoustic guitar (a lot better than just plugging in anyway), so you can get by...

    power conditioner problem :(

I just got my new Furman RackRider power conditioner with the little slide-out lights and digital voltage display. But for some reason I can't get the lights to work! Everything on the unit seems to work perfectly, and the bulbs are fine too, but they won't work when I slide the tubes out and...

    Cheap mic for Home Recording...

How big is the room? What shape? Ceiling height? What are the walls made of? Is it carpeted? ...there are LOTS of variables! But if you're in a room and not a studio, a dynamic mic like the SM-58 has an advangage in that it dynamics don't pick up much room noise, since they're inherently...

    Compressor shopping

Yeah, STAY AWAY FROM THE 3630! There's a reason why there are always dozens of them for sale on eBay, and elsewhere. They suck! But suckers on eBay will pay almost retail price for them every time! Crazies!!!

condenser mics TOO MUCH BACKROUND noise!!!

Have you tried turning the gain down and getting closer to the mic? I find that this helps improve your signal to noise ratio substantially. But I'm not familiar with the intricacies of the 319, or your recording room. Does it have a "sweet spot" at relatively close range? Also, recording at...

I got my new cans and extension yesterday! Thanks Harvey! They're great for the price!!! :D

    MR-8 Volume Help

It's important to note that the headphone output of the MR-8 is NOISY! So don't pay attention to any hissing or whatever if you're only hearing it on the headphones...if so, it's not actually in the recording! Also, the faders DO NOT CONTROL RECORDING LEVEL! They just control your monitoring...

Confusion: MR-8 with an external mixer

Actually, I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to have the levels on the MR-8 set anywhere besides all the way counterclockwise, to "line." Otherwise you'll be using the MR-8's crappy pre-amp's on each input, which will add noise/coloration. Although the Behringer mixer's pre-amps aren't known to...
