    Mastering? Levels problem

Hey guys, I know it's not about the "loudness" but I'm getting frustrated, heres why. Im pretty decent with getting quality mixes done, but when I wanna raise the master volume a little bit to a decent loudness, im stuck getting distortion and clipping. Right now im using T-racks 24 to try to...

    Gating drum bleed

Yea i own the firepod also and I had to learn how to make each mic sound well. I usually will gate the toms and snare. Toms can be tricky tho if there are light hits on them. Experiment with gating tho cuz i def get a much better/tighter sound with certain drums gated.

4 new songs from my indie rock band

I like the wide stereo imagine on the mixes. Maybe lower the snare a tiny bit on slower parts and bring up the guitars a little.

    Firepod with headphone amp/monitor volume

Well im looking into buying a firepod in the next couple weeks and after researching something i still can't figure this out. Suppose i plug my headphone amp into the "cue mix line out" then monitors into the "main cr output". How would i go about having my monitors at a low level while...

    metalcore song

first off.....great overall sound. i love as i lay's quality in some of there mixes, their outstanding. Some things i might consider is a little more volume on the snare. Bass drum is dead on for this type of music. I might also bring up the guitar a tad bit. one thing i notice is in a lot of...

    All My Cuts (METAL)

since this is a metal tune....if u have the bass drum on a sep. track give it some compression if u haven't already done it. it seems a little to bassy and muffled for metal....I really like the song by the way tho...guitars r great

How do you master a CD?

speaking of Bob katz's book "Mastering Audio" i HIGHLY recommend it. Great all around book for mastering, tho it does get very complicated in some parts, a very good book i would have to say. P.S. Mastering is WAY more than compressing and raising the volume haha

    Serious drum help needed!

it actually doesn't sound that bad on my mackie hr824's. Put some reverb on that snare and some compression on the kick and you'll be rockin!

    Ahead Drumsticks

yea i had a pair of them for about a year until the plastic got worn down. There great if u play slower sort of stuff but i went back to light wood sticks since i play fast punk and metal beats and its not rocket science that lighter sticks use less energy.
