I checked the XLR cable, and that didnt change a thing. Im not sure if I had phantom power on, what effect would that have had?
Thanks for the quick responses
Im having a problem with my SP B1... I was recording all morning with my mxl v67 through a M-audio duo. Everything was going great until i recieved my new B1 via UPS. I opened the box, and hooked it up through the DUO, and all of a sudden the all the DUO lights went on and the DUO crapped out...
Sorry i figured it out myself. And for any total noobs who have the same problem verify your inputs and outputs (in the device tab.)
Sorry to waste space.
Ajay
I have Dell Insprion with 3.06 P4 and 1 GB of RAM. I also have an M-Audio DUO.
I have Cubase SX, and have selected the M-Audio ASIO drivers as my device. I start a new project, and try to record. I have my MXL v67G connected with XLR to mic 1, with the phantom power on. I have the DUO...

Take a read if you want. I mean thats what i wanna buy, just making sure its a good unit.
Thanks,

Thanks for the options? Any others to consider? Someone was telling me the IBM Intel Centrino processors are competitive with the macs.
Also will USB 2.0 work with the tascam US122?
Thanks,
Ajay
I knew that would be the standard repsonse, because I totally agree with you. Why not go firewire with some nice pres and a lower laptop or PC. But the I only have 2400$ to spend on a laptp specifically. Hard to explain.
Ajay
2400 Dollars to spend ONLY for the laptop.
I am otherwise planning on getting the Tascam US122 or the M-Audio DUO.
So what will have a good USB 2.0 connection, and will have a fast hard drive with plenty of memory.
Thanks for your help.
Ajay
From what Ive heard the Tascam mic pres are garbage. (This from a user onthe google groups) I mean im hoping theyre good so I dont have to get the DUO but thats jsut what Ive heard.
Ajay
Thanks so much for all the advice.. I think Ill be buying online because Im in no rush to get the equipment. What I need is a Tascam US 122, SP B1, MXL V67, and some headphones.
Thanks again,
Ajay
Thanks so much for you help Richard, this seems to be the way Im going to go.
Where to purchase these mics for the lowest prices? (MXL V67, Studio Projects B1)
Ajay
Most of the things i need to purchase are available at my local Guitar Center in addition to online. I was wondering if there were any benefits of purchasing it at GC other than having to pay 6% sales tax? (The sites seem to have free shipping).
Thanks
Ajay
With the V67 and the B1, does it matter if they are matched, for recording in stereo? I dunno if that matters, Im a total noob.
Thanks,
Ajay
A little OT:
oh yeah, and who is G Scott Stambaugh?
What aout micing in stereo with a SD and LD condenser?
Like say, the SP B1 and the MC 012? Otherwise im think Ill do the B1 and the V67, they seem to be versatile enough for my work.
Thanks,
Ajay
Richard:
Thanks for your suggestion. That seems to be my best option as of now...
Innovations:
I have a laptop so I have no choice other then to go through USB, since i cant afford the other options (PCIA/Firewire). Im either going with the DUO or the Tascam US122 ( I have a thread in the...
Hi all,
I was wondering which of these two is a better bet for me. They are similar, but the Tascam also has MIDI, and is 60 dollars cheaper. What are some pros and cons of each? How are the mic pres on these two? Is there another USB option that I should look at? Id like it to have phantom...
