    Weight In Gold

Hey all. Me and my friend recorded a song together. This is only the second song I've recorded and the first I haven't finished yet, but I feel I'm having more success with this one. I'm still getting to grips with compression and EQing and I mainly used EQ on the Bass, snare and kick drum, so...

A start to my first mix!

Hey all! I had a bit of time and motivation to look at the track again. I think that the levels are almost done. I should do the claps, but I tried and they sounded a bit shitty so it's something to look into a bit later. If i'm pretty much there I'm going to start looking into compression etc...

A start to my first mix!

There is reverb on the vocal track, I haven't added any compression at all. I'll have a go at panning the guitar, I was panning it 25% left and then added reverb on the other side. I'll have a look at those vocals, you're right that they do need looking at,

    Shoulda Done Do.....

Well, if I get anywhere within this ballpark of quality I can die a happy man. I'm not experienced enough with mixing to say anything other that it sounds good to my ears. But, in terms of guitar tone and playing, I like to think I know a little, and the tone here is really great and the...

A start to my first mix!

Thanks mate. Yea the vocals need looking at a little! I also need to look at EQing a little and to start compressing! Thanks for trying lol! You need to click on the latest one mate. Try this one. :) Take Me Home1 by Farce_Bandit - Listen to music

A start to my first mix!

Thanks. Is the guitar too loud in general or is it a specific part, I.e the verse? Yea I know the part now, It's the second Take me home in the verse. I can fix that. :)

It's because I just uploaded it. Sorry, it should be fine now. And thanks!

    EQing - Some questions.

I've had a little success on a track I'm working on, I've managed to EQ some of the bass fret noise out and make the kick and snare a little more prominent I think. EQing the instruments is a little more difficult as I find that I'm changing the bass sound per section, and I'm not sure if it's...

A start to my first mix!

https://soundcloud.com/farce_bandit/take-me-home1 I've taken the tape saturation off and decreased the phaser, also I EQed the kick and snare a little. Better?

A start to my first mix!

Thanks :). You mean for the chorus? I haven't changed the verse or bridge guitars at all. I added the phaser to the distorted guitars on my Kemper and reamped, then added the reverb from my Big Sky and some tape saturation from my Strymon Deco, that might be why. I'll have a play and see. I...

A start to my first mix!

Okay. I've spent a fair amount of time automating, changing guitar tones, mixing levels, re recording guitars, getting my mate to redo the vocals etc. I think I've got it to pretty much as good a level as I can with my knowledge. I'm pretty sure that the double track on the vocal might be loud...

    Monkey Man (Rolling Stones cover)

I think it sounds great. I love this song too! That has to change. Listen to Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers or Exile on Main Street.

    EQing - Some questions.

Thanks for that. So, according to that I should insert an EQ Plugin, cut all the frequencies that I need to, then insert compression, do all my compression, then insert another EQ Plugin and sort out anything that I want boosted? This stop the compression affecting boosted frequencies in a...

    EQing - Some questions.

Yep I'm with you. I'm just looking for a basic understanding, then I'm good to go. Thanks!

    EQing - Some questions.

I understand. Different horses for different courses, :) I'm gonna start looking at the recorded instruments I've got, and think about what kind of frequencies they should occupy, I.e mid range for guitar, and play around in that area. :) Thanks.

    EQing - Some questions.

Yes of course. Right now I'm mostly concerned with understanding the graph, and I think I do, so that's a big step forward. One last question, do people normally EQ every part of a drum kit, or is it mainly snare and kick? Thanks BroKen for that thread, it looks very useful! My friend just...

    EQing - Some questions.

Yea I understand what you're saying, and I have been messing around with stuff but it's also difficult when you feeling like you're just guessing.

    EQing - Some questions.

Okay I get it. By having them there they would all occupy the same space, by removing them the others can occupy that space, therefore making them more prevalent and not affected by the bothersome ones?
